I have decided I want to move my playroom into the basement which has a finished room.  I dont' have alot of money to redo it, but looking for some fun ideas.  the back wall will probably be shelves with totes on it for plastic containers containg toys.   It is a basement so no windows so I want bright and cheery.

This playroom is for 3 girls so it can be girlie, any suggestions for colors or wall decor??   I know one wall I want to do the chalk board paint on about half way up so the girls can have fun on it and write on it.   But other than that I'm open.  Let me know.

Here are some pictures, it will be throughly cleaned and none of this junk will be in there, currently it is the junk room until I get cleaning, but need ideas first.   Help...

First picture is looking down the stairs.  The door will be removed and a gate that will be hinged and screwed will be there so no one will fall down.   Especailly the baby that isn't mobile yet.

2nd picture shows the back wall where I will be putting shelving up to the door.   But any ideas on the pole?

3rd picture will be adding railing in so its not open on the stairs there.

4th picture the fuse box will be covered so the kids won't know its there.   Hubby took it down when power was out a bit ago and hasn't put it back.   But will look like part of the wall.

I think since it is going to be a playroom for girls  maybe paint it pink with flowers , it is not hard to paint flowers but if you think you will mess up or want them to be perfect you can always go out and buy the stickers you put on the wall or you can make it pink and put the disney princesses theme..

You could buy some book shelfs or a cabnit and paint them and use them to store toys, games, and books and maybe buy some good size rugs to use like if you are going to have a playtable you could put a rug with charecters under it or just a plain purple, pink or whatever color rug under it.

Ok, I personally love a space like this because I look at it and I become overwhelmed with ideas...

First, let me suggest the pole:

You have 3 girls, what if you do a height chart on each side, one for each girl and measure them as they grow. You could put some pretty fairies or princess wallies on there, paint it pretty pink to give it a little pizzazz.

Color wise, since you want bright and cheery, and they are all girls, I'd go nuts with pinks and purples. You could fake a window...Get some curtains & valance to put up around a wall mounted windowpane: paint the wall pink, the window purple and if you are creative with a brush, paint a garden mural outside the window...You could also create the same effect with a poster, by just tacking it to the pane and mounting it on the wall, like a frame, and hang curtains around it to give it a window like illusion.

Coming down the stairs, you could hang prints of the girls as they grow, maybe paint the walls the same pink you could do in the main room and hang some beautiful black and whites. Wrap pretty ribbons around the banisters on the way down, and it will give a nice entrance into the playroom. Another option would be frame some drawings they did and hang them up with the photographs. If you could hang curtains at the base of the stairs (and just keep them tied off to the sides) the fabric adds softeness to the room.

I think another cool idea for this room: a canopy, and putting down soft pillows and blankets under the canopy, hang stars: (you could even have the girls cut them and sprinkle glitter, then just punch holes and tie string) and tie from the middle of the ring, and it would be a cozy reading space...Have a bookshelf loaded up with books for them =)

If you think you'd have the space, you could put a small table in, so they'd have a little place to sit and play board games together.

Hope those are helpful ideas!

Thanks love the ideas, keep them coming!!!

My girls love dress up and dance, so I was thining of doing a little stage in one corner, with disco balls above that I will make from styrofoam balls and old CDs??   Saw it on HGTV.   Anymore???

If you go with a little dance theme, maybe you could hang CDs up on one wall, like an accent wall of CDs. You could probably just purchase blank ones if you needed a bunch, since they are like $10 for a huge stack of them =)

Oh the stage sounds so cool!! Don't forget the karoke machine! lol

There's not much to add to everyones sugestions. Maybe you can get some track or spot lighting that will go with the music theme. The little stage could also have storage area if your building it.
