by mom-n-michaela on Sep. 30, 2008 at 4:57 PMA friend made these for our cookie exchange last year and I loved them so much I am planning on making a lot of them this year...they are soft, chewy, and delish!!
Molasses Sugar Cookies
3/4 c. shortening 2 c. flour 1 c. sugar 2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 c. molasses 1/2 tsp. cloves 1 egg 1/2 tsp. ginger 1 tsp. salt
Melt shortening. Add sugar, molasses and the egg. Let it cool some before adding the egg. Sift together the flour, soda, salt and spices in a seperate bowl. Add flour mixture to the molasses mixture. Mix well. Chill. Form into 1" balls, roll in sugar. Place on a greased cookie sheet, 2" apart. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes. |
