Have you sat and asked yourself why you feel this?

Talk to your OB about you anxiety. Talk to your friends who have had babies. Dwell on the good experiences that they have had.

when i was pregnant with my first I felt the same way but I finally got past the fear because I looked at it this way ..

" This baby is coming into the world if your ready or not and there is nothing you can do to stop nature"

and with that additude it just became easier to handle! Women have been giving birth since man was walking on the earth.

Once "D" day came I had a 9lb 2oz baby boy and it was an 8hr labor and with 10 mins to breath between each contraction and 15mins of pushing

I had no drugs or epidoral.

just tell yourself postive things and keep a postive outlook on it and it should become easier for you

GOOD LUCK
JENNY!

How far along are you?

When I was pregnant, I would go through phases of extreme worry, but not every night.  The only thing that helped me was thinking:

1 - It's gonna happen, you can't stop it now!

2 - Yeah, it's gonna hurt, but millions have done it before me!

3 - If it gets too bad, then I can always get an epidural!!!

Also, I had way more crazy baby dreams than worries!

Perhaps you need to try to refocus your mind on the end result. The beautiful baby that will be there when all is said and done. BTW you will be able to handle the pain I have seen some women who I know that burst out crying if they get so much as a paper cut come through labor just beautifully.

Thats how I felt, too. And it hurt...until I got my intrathecal....lol. Then not so much :) I don't think I would do it without pain meds...I had an episiotomy and tore...had to have stitches...it would not have been pleasant without the pain meds....then again, I didnt like feeling out of it, but that wont stop me next time! And you may get lucky and have short labor and a small baby :)
