While at the “Together at Christmas” celebration at Westminster Abbey on December 6, Kate Middleton revealed why she was so proud of her 6-year-old son, Prince Louis.
The Princess of Wales attended the annual holiday celebration alongside her husband, Prince William, and their three children: Louis, Princess Charlotte, and Prince George.
While talking with singer Paloma Faith, Kate shared an anecdote about Louis leading up to the event, according to video shared by journalist Kate Mansey.
In the video, Kate said Louis learned she had scheduled ballet dancers to perform at the “Together at Christmas” event and she wanted it to be a surprise for Charlotte, who is a big fan of ballet.
“So I said, ‘Louis, can you keep a secret? I want it to be a surprise for Charlotte, who loves her ballet dancing,’” Kate explained to Paloma.
“And he said, ‘I won’t say anything!’ And he’s kept the secret, this was what, maybe two weeks? … Quite good for 6 years old,” Kate praised her son.
But the morning before the event, Louis was really ready to share the news with Charlotte.
“This morning he was like, ‘Please Mummy can I tell her? I’m bursting!’, cause I did the drop off and he really wanted to tell her.
“I think, hopefully, he’s kept on with it. I don’t think he’s said anything,” she continued. “I asked her, just before we left. I said, ‘Do you know what the surprise is? And she said no.”

Kate talked about Charlotte’s love of dancing last year, as well.
While visiting a textile mill, she told a young girl who also loved to dance that “my daughter Charlotte likes dancing. She loves ballet and tap,” according to Hello! magazine. “Keep up the dancing.”
