Everyone has a right to practice whatever it is they believe in. From Christianity to Buddhism, if you connect with it on a spiritual and emotional level and you aren't harming anyone, you do you. But one boyfriend says that his girlfriend's newfound devotion to witchcraft is starting to rain on his personal parade — and space.

These stories are based on posts found on Reddit. On Reddit, the boyfriend explained that her involvement with witchcraft began as a "boredom buster" during lockdown … or so he thought.

"She keeps saying that she’s a witch and she has filled our house with herbs, candles, crystals, rune sets and weird trinkets," he wrote. "At first I didn’t care because I thought it’d be a temporary thing but I was very wrong."

He went on to explain that her devotion to her new craft has seemingly taken over her schedule.

"She gets up at 3 in the morning just to do rituals and spells or whatever it is witches do," he explained. "My girlfriend burns so much incense that it gives me a headache and makes our house smell strange, I hate it."

He also added that she is always trying to get him to drink herbal teas that taste terrible.

"I really was trying to be supportive but it’s starting to frustrate me."

The boyfriend officially hit a wall with her when he came home from work one day and she "pounced" on him.

"A few hours ago, I came home from work and as soon as she saw me she told me that she senses 'bad energy' and started SPRAYING some mist thing on and around me," he claimed. "So I may have snapped and told her that she was acting crazy and she needs to let this witch thing go because she’s not a real [expletive] witch. My girlfriend was offended and told me I wasn’t a supportive boyfriend that I was acting disrespectful towards her beliefs and now she’s refusing to talk to me until I apologise."

Now he wants to know if he took it too far.

As usual, Reddit had a bevy of insight that ranges from supportive to slightly incredulous.

"She crossed a line when she started to spray you directly which is the same as being srayed with 'holy water,'" one commenter wrote. "If the two of you can't come to an undersanding and mutual acceptance of each other, you're headed for a break-up."

Even other practicing witches chimed in to give their perspectives.

"I'm a hedge witch, meaning that I practice alone and don't actually worship any particular deity," wrote another user. "I respect nature and the connection we have with everything and everyone and I call to the spirits when performing rituals. I don't call them spells because I don't actually fully believe in the Harry potter type of witchcraft it's more phycological than anything else. I do believe that everyone has an energy about them that you can pick up but I never say anything about it to others or spray them with stuff or insist they need to cleanse their aura or anything."

But another user insister that everyone was in the wrong here.

"Girlfriend is crossing a line by forcing her boyfriend to participate, but witchcraft is a legitimate spiritual practice," explained the commenter. "It’s like telling someone they’re ‘not a real [expletive] Christian’ if they hold up a cross or they’re ‘not a real [expletive] Jew’ if they put a mezuzah on their door. A. it doesn’t make much sense because you’re using their spiritual practice as grounds to claim they’re not the religion they are part of, and B. it’s just a [expletive] thing to do to attack someone’s spirituality when instead you could just ask them to not pull you into it."
