Generation Beta Babies Are Coming in 2025: These Are the Most Popular Baby Names Right Now

BabyCenter, a digital parenting resource, has unveiled 2024’s top baby names and a new wave of trends that will influence the names of the first babies of Generation Beta, coming in 2025.

This year, Noah sits comfortably at the top of the boys’ list as the most popular name, followed by Liam and Oliver. On the girls’ side, Olivia, Amelia, and Emma hold their positions as the most popular names.

“E” names for boys and “-lee” and “-lyn” endings for girls are gaining popularity, according to the report.

Emrys debuted this year in the top 1,000 boys’ names; it’s up 839 spots to No. 954. Meanwhile, Emir jumped 146 spots to No. 632, Enrique is up 121 places to No. 743, Edgar jumped 171 to No. 799, Eliel is up 185 to No. 824, and Eliseo is up 204 to No. 847. Easton and Everett re-entered the top 100 at No. 92 and No. 93, respectively.

For girls, the top 100 names list brims with new -lyn endings like Evelyn, Brooklyn, and Madelyn. Other rising stars with the -lyn and -lee endings are Adalee, up 276 to No. 753, Avalynn, up 402 to No. 861, Lakelyn, up 184 to No. 869, Rosalee, up 289 to No. 878, and Maelynn up 363 spots to No. 900. All of those names are joining the top 1,000 for the first time.

As Generation Beta prepares to make its debut, their parents will be influenced by a host of trends when it comes to naming them, according to the report. French names are gaining traction in the wake of the 2024 Paris Olympics: Raphael, Louis, Beaux, Remi, and Gustavo for boys; Louise, Elodie, Arlette, and Jolie for girls. The names Stanley (related tto he cup) and Justin (as in Timberlake) are slipping in favor.

Names inspired by the main characters of Inside Out (Riley for girls), Ripley (Ripley) and The Bear (Carmen for boys) are climbing in popularity. The names Caitlin, Kamilla and A’ja, inspired by the WNBA players, are seeing significant upticks. Also gaining traction are celestial-inspired names: Eclipse and Sol for girls and Orion for boys.
