Having children is a joy for those who wish to add "parent" to their list of titles. It's a lifelong commitment, and sometimes it's a dreamed-about and planned-for event, whereas other times it's a total surprise. For many people, the journey to parenthood happens early. But there are also plenty of people on the other side of the spectrum β those who become parents much later in life. Of course, the timeline tends to be driven by biology.
For people who have ovaries, there is often a predetermined limited time in which they can have a biological child (but of course, there are ways to get around this with science). Usually, biology means the ability to carry a child gets harder as the years go on.
But for people who have sperm, becoming a biological parent is less complicated because biology doesn't have the same timeline. Still, it's not super common to hear of someone becoming a parent in their 60s and beyond. For these celebrity dads, however, the uncommon is their reality.
Whether they became a father for the first time or all over again after 60, these celebrities who welcomed babies later in life must believe in the old adage that kids keep you young. (And honestly, we want to know where they get their all energy!)
Al Pacino
Robert De Niro shocked fans in April 2023 when he announced that he'd just welcomed his seventh child at the age of 79 β but fellow actor Al Pacino managed to top even that. The House of Gucci star, who is 83, is set to become a dad for the fourth time. His 29-year-old girlfriend, Noor Alfallah, is eight months pregnant, according to TMZ. Al already shares daughter Julie, 33, with Jan Tarrant, as well as 22-year-old twins Olivia and son Anton with Beverly D'Angelo.
Mick Jagger
Mick Jagger, 79, is a legendary rock star β and he's also a father to a brood of eight children between five women. He became a dad for the eighth time when he was 73 years old, welcoming son Deveraux in 2016. He's also a grandfather to five and he became a great-grandfather in 2014. Yep, your math is correct: That makes his youngest child two years younger than his great-grandchild β wild.
Hugh Hefner
Hugh Hefner, founder of Playboy, died in 2017 at the age of 91. At the time of his death, he left behind four kids and a wife who was decades his junior. Hugh's oldest child, daughter Christie Hefner, was born in 1952; his son David Hefner was born in 1955; his son Marston Hefner was born in 1990; and his youngest, son Cooper Hefner, was born in 1991, when Hugh was 65.
Clint Eastwood
Clint Eastwood, who was born in 1930, has been part of the Hollywood elite for a long time thanks to his amazing acting and directing skills. But he's also a family man. He has eight kids between his first and second marriages. Clint's oldest child is in her late 60s and his youngest is 26 β meaning Clint was 66 when she was born.
George Lucas
The world would be so different without the talent of George Lucas, who is the creative genius behind the Star Wars and Indiana Jones franchises. He's also a dad to four kids, Amanda, Jett, Katie, and Everest. He was 37 when his first child was born and 69 when he and his second wife, Mellody Hobson, welcomed his youngest child, Everest, together.

Sir Elton John is one of the biggest legends in the music world, creating some of the most recognizable songs ever. He added "dad" to his long list of accomplishments at the age of 62 when he and husband David Furnish welcomed their first child, son Zachary, via surrogate in 2010. But he also had a busy personal life, having been married eight times to seven women (he tied the knot with one of them twice). In February 2021, David Foster welcomed his sixth baby, son Rennie, with his fifth wife, Katharine McPhee. At the time, Katharine was 36 years old and David, a composer and music producer, was 71. David's oldest child is 51, so there's quite a sizable age gap between Rennie and his older siblings.

They also have another daughter, Remy, born in 2017 when Billy was 68.

Sir James Paul McCartney is one of the geniuses who brought us the Beatles, and he's got five kids to share his fascinating stories with. Mary is Paul's oldest; she arrived in the world in 1969 when Paul was 27. There's a big age gap between Mary and her youngest sibling, half-sister Beatrice, who was born in 2003 when Paul was 61.
