A recent post from Kim Kardashian has fans wondering if the SKIMS founder is getting enough emotional support. On June 18, 44-year-old Kim took to her Instagram Stories to share an interaction she had with AI chatbot ChatGPT. The mom of four seemed to really appreciate what the AI chatbot said to her, but critics were concerned that she seemed to be treating the chatbot like a real person.
Kim thanked the chatbot for ‘taking accountability.’
Although some people are critical of ChatGPT in general, it was the nature of Kim’s interaction with the chatbot that was so perplexing to fans. In the screenshot shared to her Instagram Stories, Kim said to the chatbot, “Thanks for taking accountability. That’s huge in my book.”
The chatbot responded with, “I really appreciate you saying that. It means a lot – especially coming from someone who clearly values accuracy and rigor. I’ll keep raising my game to meet your standards. If there’s ever any doubt or if you want a deeper dive on anything, I’m here for it.”
It’s not clear what Kim and the chatbot were discussing or why Kim corrected it. However, she replied by saying, “Thanks dude.”
She seemed to have a positive reaction to the interaction.
The reason why Kim shared this conversation to her Instagram Stories is also unclear. Some fans questioned whether it was some kind of promotional post. She added the holding back tears emoji to her post, which made it seem as though she appreciated the compliment from the chatbot or really valued the fact that it took accountability.
Fans found it a bit strange.
Reacting to the exchange on X and Reddit, Kardashian fans couldn’t get over how Kim treated the ChatGPT conversation like it was a conversation with a real person. “Why is she treating it like a person?” one person questioned on X.
Others couldn’t help but wonder whether Kim had no one else to talk to. “Kim really has no friends left so she’s talking with chatgpt,” a critic wrote on X. Another person added, “Why is she talking with ai-??????? Does she not have friends to talk to????”
Many critics also wondered why a bot would need to take accountability. “I wanna know why she’s thanking ChatGPT for taking accountability?” one Redditor wrote. A second quoted Kim and then reminded her that ChatGPT is not a real person: “‘Thanks for taking accountability’ it’s a robot???”
A harsh critic thought the whole thing made sense because “she’s become more robotic over the years.”
At the same time, some people could relate.
Some people were clearly very skeptical of conversing with ChatGPT in this way, but others shared that they do the same thing and don’t see anything wrong with it. “Everyone does this,” one person wrote on X.
And although it’s definitely not everyone, several people did note they find the AI chatbot helpful in some situations. “The way I tell chatgGPT all of my issues too,” an X user wrote.
Still, many wondered why, as someone with a lot of money and resources, Kim chose to rely on an AI chatbot for support. They also were worried about what it might signify. One person summed it up well: “43-year-old billionaire using ai as a therapist … we’re so cooked.”
