Travis Kelce Calls ‘Catching Kelce’ Reality Show the ‘Worst Thing I Ever Did’

Dating Taylor Swift isn’t Travis Kelce‘s first brush with Hollywood fame — not by a long shot. Of course, Travis has spent 12 seasons in the NFL, but he was also the star of a 2016 E! dating show called Catching Kelce. And as he reflected on that time in his life during a recent podcast episode, it sounds like he has a lot of regret.

When Travis appeared on the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast this week, the hosts asked him if he’d had any run-ins with the police in his younger years. The answer to that question was no, and instead, something else came in mind when he thought about his past mistakes: Catching Kelce.

“The worst thing I ever did was the dating show,” he admitted.

Catching Kelce ran for one season on E!, and centered around the 50 women (one from each state, naturally) who wanted to compete for Travis’ attention. After several rounds of competitions, dates, and eliminations, a woman named Maya Benberry won. The couple ended up dating for less than a year after the show came to an end.

With that experience in his past, Travis said the show simply didn’t get him or his career to where he wanted to be at the time.

“It didn’t set me up for anything. I didn’t realize what reality TV really was,” he said. “I don’t even think anybody watched it.”

And though he was “having fun at the time,” while he was filming the show, he didn’t fully realize that “everybody is going to be able to see this forever.”

We have to wonder if Taylor is part of that “everybody”? Hmm …

Back in October, Travis had similar comments to make in an interview with People, even joking that he’d “erased all of those memories” he made while filming the show.

“I guess I learned how to kind of patiently wait on set,” he conceded.

Despite that regret, it seems like Travis still ended up in a solid place in both his personal life and his professional life. Dating a woman who is arguably one of the most talented and successful people in the world, and three Super Bowl wins under his belt? Not too shabby for this one-time reality star.
