Ms. Rachel Confesses She ‘Gasped’ After Getting Surprise DM From A-List Star

Ms. Rachel is a YouTube star, but she’s not well-versed in Instagram and doesn’t know a ton about celebrities. By mistake, she ended up “ghosting” several people who tried to connect with her on social media — including one huge A-list star. Ms. Rachel joined Kylie Kelce on the August 7 episode of her Not Gonna Lie podcast and explained how she found out that she had been ignoring this star for months.

She didn’t know where to find requests on Instagram.

Ms. Rachel, whose real name is Rachel Griffin-Accurso, explained that she is an “elder millennial” and “not amazing with Instagram.” Months went by before she realized that she had received numerous messages. “I didn’t know about the requests and top requests, so I ghosted some people for, like, months,” Ms. Rachel explained to Kylie.

One of those people was ‘@badgalriri.’

But Rachel didn’t know who @badgalriri was. She simply noticed that the Instagram user had a lot of followers. “I’m not a cool person who like knows a lot about celebrities,” she explained. “When I saw a @badgalriri I was like, ‘Wow, this person has so many followers.'”

At this point, Kylie laughed and said, “Oh my God” because she knows that @badgalriri is Rihanna’s Instagram handle.

Ms. Rachel still couldn’t figure out who had messaged her though, so she asked some people around her if they knew who @badgalriri was. “I was like, ‘This is such a cute little profile picture because it’s a drawing,'” Rachel continued, adding that she had “no idea” the account belonged to Rihanna. “I asked some people who were around, ‘Do you know who this is?’” she explained. “And, yeah, then I realized it was Rihanna.”

Kylie asked her about her reaction.

Calling the DM from Rihanna a “tiny, little flex,” Kylie asked Ms. Rachel if she “gasped” when she realized who had messaged her. “I did, I did,” she admitted. “I was like, ‘Wow.’ And yeah, that was crazy.” Because Kylie had asked her about her most surprising fan, Rachel tried to rack her brain for others. “Can you top Rihanna?” Kylie questioned.

Kylie and Rachel also spoke about motherhood.

During the podcast, Kylie mentioned how people often assume she knows a lot about parenting because of her podcast and the fact that she has four children. She asked Rachel if she’s had a similar experience.

Rachel said she has encountered people who see her as a parenting expert, but she doesn’t see herself that way. “I like to be like, ‘I’m just a regular mom,’” Rachel explained. “And something I think about all the time is this quote: ‘There’s no way to be a perfect mom, but there’s a million ways to be a good mom.’ So, I go for the good mom.”

She recalled a time when she ‘went blank.’

Ms. Rachel is a mom of two. She welcomed her second child, Susannah, earlier this year. One time, when Susannah was just 3 months old, she and Rachel were “staring at each other.”

“She’s just looking at me,” Rachel recalled. “And I was like, ‘This is my time to shine. I’m Ms. Rachel. It’s time for a song.’ And then I couldn’t think of any … I went blank.” During that moment, Rachel essentially gave herself a “pep talk” and said to herself, “You’re Ms. Rachel.”

But alas, “[Susannah’s] a tough audience sometimes,” even for Ms. Rachel. Kylie has had a similar experience with her youngest child, Finnley, who was also born this year. “Our most recent is also a tough audience,” Kylie admitted. “She makes you work for a smile.”
