If you’ve lost count of how often your kids shout “Mom!” every day, you’re definitely not alone. One overwhelmed mom had just woken up and started getting ready for a trip when she was interrupted by her kids calling for her numerous times. Eventually, her husband stepped in.
The dad staged an intervention to get his kids to stop saying “Mom” all the time. In a video that has since gone viral, the dad sat his kids down to explain the problem.
The mom, Doreen Korba, shared her husband’s 8 a.m. ‘Stop Saying Mom’ intervention on social media.
In the video, her kids are sitting on the couch and their dad is standing in front of them. “The Hubby stepping in to save what’s left of my sanity🤣,” Doreen captained her video. “You know he means business when he calls a family meeting on the couch. Couple more weeks of summer moms, we got this. 🙌😳”
The mom told Today.com that she was trying to do a last-minute check before leaving for a vacation, but it was difficult because of all of the demands from her kids. “Every two seconds I hear ‘Mom! Do you have my iPad charger? Mom! Did you pack snacks? Mom! I need a bowl! Mom! Where’s my other shoe,'” she said.
Her husband understood that something had to be done.
Sensing his wife’s frustration, the dad asked his kids to join him for a family meeting in the living room. Doreen and her husband are parents to Michael, 13, Josie, 8, and Quinn, 6.
During the meeting, the dad spoke to his kids gently yet firmly. “I know you guys love your mother. I love her too,” he says in the clip. “But every day — even just this morning — inside an hour of being up, every minute, ‘Mom, mom, mom, mom, mom, mom’ — too many ‘moms.'”
The dad continues with, “You guys are old enough to do stuff on your own, and I know that you love to show us stuff, but you need to just, like, slow down a little bit.”
Other moms loved the intervention and could relate.
In the comments, many moms understood exactly what Doreen was dealing with, as they experience the same thing every day. One mom wrote, “And you wonder why moms crash out at 6:30pm and just cant take it anymore…..having to take care of multiple humans is exhausting AND she NEVER has time for herself, ever.” Another commented, “I hear ‘mom’ when my kids aren’t even home 😵💫.”
Plus, a lot of people loved how serious the family meeting seemed. One person joked, “Good board meeting everyone 😂 Hopefully we can meet our goals for next quarter.”
Some asked if the dad could give his talk to other children as well. “Does he travel with this presentation? This is a message that needs to be spread 😂,” another commenter wrote.
Though many praised the dad, some people offered some pointers. “Perfection would have been saying : ‘by the by , my names DAD! Feel free to come to me instead of just going to mother,'” one person pointed out.
