Florida Mom Gives Birth to Record-Breaking Sized Newborn

Daniella Hines will forever get to remind her second-born son of what she went through to bring him earthside. The South Florida mom delivered her son on September 3, 2025, at St. Joseph’s Hospital-South in Riverview, Florida, weighing a whopping 13 lbs., 15 oz., according to The Today Show. He is officially the largest baby to be born there in 10 years.

“He was the talk of the maternity ward!” Hines told the morning show. “I remember thinking, ‘What are they pulling out of me? What is going on here?’ I felt so much pressure.”

When she saw her baby boy, who was delivered at double the weight of an average newborn, she understood why it felt so different from her first son, who People reported weighed 12 lbs., 11 oz.

“He was so big. I was like, ‘Whose baby is this? He came out of me?’” Hines went on to say. “Then everybody starts coming in because it’s not every day you see an almost 14-pound baby pop out. He was like a little celebrity.”

She added, “I can’t wait to show him when he gets older: ‘Look, you were in the news!'”

In an update on Facebook, Hines reported her newest addition is already in 6-9 month clothing and is rocking size 2 diapers at just 8 days old.

According to Suggest, both Hines and her husband Andre, are on the taller side — 6 feet and 6’2″, respectively — so the baby’s size isn’t too much of a shock. They also noted that Hines experienced gestational diabetes during her pregnancy, which can reportedly lead to larger babies if unchecked. The mom reported, however, that her glucose levels were controlled.

Both mom and baby were reported to be doing well, with Hines saying he was a “really chill” baby in his first week of life so far.

“We didn’t expect such a big blessing,” Hines gushed to Today. “But it’s just more to love!”
