Prince Harry Says His ‘Conscience Is Clear’ After Airing Out Royal Family Drama in His Memoir

Most of what went on behind the scenes with the royal family was a mystery until a few years ago, when Prince Harry and Meghan Markle began pulling back the curtain after their decision to walk away from life in the palace. What they’ve shared publicly has caused strain between Harry and his family, but if you ask him? Not only was it all worth it, but he doesn’t actually believe he was sharing any “dirty laundry” to begin with.

When it comes to sharing his side of the story, Harry has no regrets.

In a new interview with The Guardian that was published on Sunday, Harry said that when it comes to the things he’s shared publicly about his family, his “conscience is clear.”

“I think parts of the British press want to believe that I am miserable, but I’m not. I am very happy with who I am and I like the life that I live,” he said. “I have certainly had to deal with some very stressful events over the last four years. There has been the uncertainty and stress of the litigation and finding out certain things that have really, really hurt.”

He said that he’s aware speaking out “annoys some people.”

But that’s not going to stop him from doing it, even if it “goes against the narrative” that he said people want to believe about him.

“The book? It was a series of corrections to stories already out there. One point of view had been put out and it needed to be corrected,” he said. “I don’t believe that I aired my dirty laundry in public. It was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible. My conscience is clear.”

Harry is only interested in telling the truth.

That’s something that he said his wife has encouraged him to do, and has said being honest is the “most efficient way to live.”

Harry continued, “She said ‘just stick to the truth’. It is the thing I always fall back on. Always. And if you think like that, who would be stupid enough to lie? It takes up too much time and effort.”

He now sees a path forward for his family to visit the UK.

Being back in the UK last week reminded Harry of how much he loves it there, and after meeting with his father, King Charles, for the first time in nearly two years last week, when it comes to feeling safe enough to bring kids Archie and Lili to his home country, “this week has definitely brought that closer.”

But in light of his dad’s battle with cancer, moving forward, he said, “the focus really has to be on my dad.”

Maybe this means we’ll see Harry back in the UK soon, reconnecting with his family? Fingers crossed that will finally happen this time.
