One week after Nicole Kidman officially filed for divorce from Keith Urban, the couple’s friends are claiming their breakup isn’t unfolding quite the way they believed it would. According to what insiders have told the Daily Mail this week, Keith’s personality has dramatically changed from the way it was before their split — and at this point, it sounds like he’s reportedly becoming pretty unpredictable.
The earliest reports of Keith and Nicole’s separation came last Monday, and by the following day, Nicole was filing for divorce in a Nashville court, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their breakup, according to People.
Since then, there have been rampant rumors that Keith’s alleged infidelity is the reason they’re no longer together, and Keith changing the lyrics of his song to fit his guitarist, Maggie Baugh, and although those rumors remain unconfirmed, it seems like those close to the former couple are convinced that Keith is trying to make this time more difficult for his ex.
“Keith looks as if he’s out to try to publicly embarrass and hurt Nic. He’s always been the quieter one, but now that seems to have changed,” one of the insiders said.
Others are surprised that Keith would change the lyrics of “The Fighter” to fit Maggie, noting that the fact that he did that at all “says so much about how he’s dealing with their separation.”
They added, “This is a total 180 from the Keith I know. It seems like a switch has gone off in his head to awaken this vitriol he appears to have for her.”
Meanwhile, a source close to the family told People that despite the drama, Nicole is still coping well.
“She’s had a good attitude about everything and life goes on. She was in Texas this weekend and is happy to be back at work,” they said.
Another source previously told the magazine that Nicole is now focusing on the future — at this point, what else is she supposed to do?
“She’s been stressed because she knew the separation would eventually become public and she was dreading it,” the source said. “But she’s surprisingly level-headed and calm. Now that it’s out, she’s just focused on what’s ahead and her girls.”
