Groomsman Almost Loses It During Priest’s ‘Surprise’ Prayer Song at Wedding

There have been plenty of times in my life where I laughed at the worst time, made eye contact with a friend from across a silent room and burst out in giggles, or just guffawed without meaning to. I know I’m not the only one guilty of doing that, but one very respectful groomsman kept it together by the grace of God (literally, maybe, since it was during a Catholic wedding) when a priest began a four-minute-long prayer song during a wedding.

In a TikTok video that has people asking questions, mainly about the relationship status of the groomsman, a priest is heard singing one of those melodic prayers that usually happen during a long Catholic church service.

Clearly, the groomsman did not expect it, because he looks like he is on the verge of cracking up as he stands near the altar and refrains from making eye contact with literally anyone.

Everyone wants the details on if the groomsman is single.

The user who shared the TikTok, Addie LaRoche, is also the bride in the video. But, unlike other videos from her big day, she is not the star in this one. The unnamed groomsman is instead the focus, as the camera zooms in on him during the priest’s prayer song.

Clearly, he did not know it was coming or what to expect, and like many of us, he might have had a harder time because he knew he wasn’t supposed to laugh.

Anyone who has been to a Catholic church service or wedding knows that those melodic and drawn out “amen” declarations can indeed happen. So can prayers that feature similarly drawn out words at random times.

For those who grew up in the Catholic church in some way, it’s not surprising or jarring. But the groomsman is clearly caught off guard in the video and plenty of people know how he felt in that moment.

“‘AhhhhhmeeehEENNNNN’ would have sent me over the edge,” someone commented on Addie’s video. Honestly, same, because knowing you aren’t supposed to laugh makes the situation even funnier somehow.

Another user wrote, of the groomsman, “He was channeling every sad memory he has ever experienced, in this moment.”

Someone else pointed out that the groomsman “tried to look up,” but knew he might burst out laughing, so he quickly looked back down.

In the video, you can see the groomsman hold it together despite his smile looking like a laugh wants to bust out. In the caption, Addie called him a “respectful king,” and in other videos on her TikTok account, users asked if the respectful king in question is also a single king.

Addie did not share the deets about who the groomsman is, likely to respect his privacy. But somehow, he became the star of the wedding without even being the person who got married.
