Is Nicki Minaj MAGA Now? Fans Think She’s ‘Self-Sabotaging Her Career’ with Her Recent Posts

Nicki Minaj’s questionable views have made headlines before, but her recent posts about President Donald Trump are still surprising to some fans. Given that she previously said she “came to this country as an illegal immigrant,” Nicki might not seem like the most likely Trump supporter. And yet, her recent social media posts seem rather supportive of the MAGA movement, leading some fans to wonder why she seems so willing to sabotage her career and alienate her fan base.

In one post, Nicki thanked Trump.

After Trump recognized Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” and claimed that “Christianity is facing an existential threat” there, Nicki praised the president’s decision even though Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu has said Christians are not being targeted.

On X, Nicki shared Trump’s Truth Social post about it. “Reading this made me feel a deep sense of gratitude. We live in a country where we can freely worship God,” she wrote. “No group should ever be persecuted for practicing their religion. We don’t have to share the same beliefs in order for us to respect each other.”

She continued with, “Numerous countries all around the world are being affected by this horror & it’s dangerous to pretend we don’t notice. Thank you to The President & his team for taking this seriously. God bless every persecuted Christian. Let’s remember to lift them up in prayer.”

Some fans were not impressed by Nicki’s decision to post this and urged her to do some research. “I can’t defend you anymore,” one of them wrote. Another said, “Nicki we do not f— with this man. What don’t you understand. He is a f—-ing monster.”

Someone else wrote, “Imma just act like this tweet never existed.”

But Nicki later defended the post.

Per Buzzfeed, a self-proclaimed “diehard fan” called Nicki out for “cozying up to this f—ing loser” who weaponizes religion against gay people. In a since-deleted post, Nicki defended herself, writing, “Imagine hearing that Christians are being MURDERED & making it about you being gay […] I’ll advocate for you the same way that I’m advocating for MURDERED CHRISTIANS IN NIGERIA.”

She also told the fan that they’re clearly not actually “a diehard fan” and then threatened to block them. Then, in another post, she accused a critical fan of being “blinded by your own personal obsession with Trump.”

Also, in another post, she showed appreciation for Elon Musk.

On November 3, she re-posted one of his posts, which was a clip of him speaking. She captioned it with, “Life can not just be about solving one miserable problem after another. Speak Elon, we’re listening.” It might not seem all that significant, but sharing a post praising Elon and encouraging him to keep speaking is certainly a choice.

In response, one person wrote, “You used to be cool once.” Another person said, “Praising Trump and Elon Musk is same week, oh she is definitely gone y’all. How you are a gay icon and republican at the same time?”

A third person urged Nicki to “just log off for the week.”

But she continued this way.

She re-posted a video that was originally shared by the White House via TikTok. To be fair, the video was set to her song “Va Va Voom.” But as many social media users point out, Trump has used lots of popular songs before, but many artists have made it very clear that they oppose his use of their music. Meanwhile, Nicki seemed genuinely excited that her song was used in a video that celebrated Trump’s “achievements,” which included “evidence” like “world peace,” “gas prices are low,” and “criminal illegals are being deported.” One piece of “evidence” was also transphobic: “No men in women’s sports.”

On November 5, Trump and his wife Melania appeared in a “Beez in the Trap” x “What’s Up?” video, which is currently trending on social media. “Beez in the Trap” is a song by Nicki, and once again, she seemed excited to post about Trump using her music. “The President & First Lady of the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” she wrote on X. “Barbz, idk which one of you uploaded this to the white house TikTok but just know unlimited backstage GAG CITY FOR LIFE.”

In response, one fan wrote, “Gagging over Donald Trump when he doesn’t support half your fanbase is a choice!” Another X user wrote, “I can’t believe Nicki Minaj is really self-sabotaging her career like this. I mean she has been for a while, but to be advocating Elon and Trump when the majority of her fanbase is the very same people this administration is pushing to take rights away from.”
