What to Know
There are so many tasks that need to get done during the holiday season that it can be really hard to juggle it all. From baking to shopping for gifts to getting the Christmas cards printed and mailed out on time, sometimes, a little detail or two is going to slip through the cracks… especially when it comes to those cards.
One mom is sharing the story about her major Christmas card fail on Instagram, and honestly? We have to give her credit for how quickly she found a solution. Let’s call it holiday magic!
She didn’t realize her mistake until it was too late.
In this video that photographer and mom Jillian Lynch shared on Instagram in early December, she shared the unfortunate consequence of rushing to get your holiday cards done too quickly.
She didn’t realize her mistake until she showed someone the finished product, which included a photo of her kids posing with the family dog, and they replied, “I thought you edited out his red rocket.”
Sure enough, she’d forgotten to, making the dog the center of attention on the card. Yikes!
She had to think quickly to salvage the cards.
Fortunately, she was able to come up with a solution pretty quickly: She immediately ordered snowflake snickers and used those to cover up her dog’s private area on the cards.
It actually didn’t look half bad, and it had to have been a lot cheaper than reprinting the cards with an edited photo, especially if time is of the essence and she wanted to make sure the cards made it into the mail by a certain date.
“May your holiday season rise to the occasion,” she joked at the end of the video.
So many people can relate to her mistake.
She’s hardly the first person to have photo error or typo slip by them while making a holiday card, and she definitely won’t be the last. And to prove that she’s not alone, plenty of people commented on the post and shared their own slip ups.
“I had a tampon string hanging in front of the lord and everyone in my 2020 Christmas card. My legs looked phenomenal so I put ‘We’ll see you next year even if we have to pull some strings,'” one commenter wrote. “It’s still my favorite.”
Another wrote, “I thought I edited out the random family name in 2020 on the template we chose… I did not. Glitter tape to the rescue.”
These things happen. Sometimes, you just have to laugh about it.
