What to Know
It’s easy for kids to forget that their parents are also experiencing this life for the first time. And, even for some adult children, it’s not always easy to remember that there is someone inside a mother other than the mothering part of her. When a TikTok user by the name of Anna shared a video where her mom receives a Cinderella glass slipper at Disney World as a gift, that part of her mom shines through.
Honestly, even those of us who have never wanted a real-life glass slipper replica from the famed animated movie can appreciate the girlhood moment that this moment waited decades to have. And it’s all because her son and his wife gifted her the glass slipper while on a family trip to Disney World. I’m not crying, you’re crying.

Some of us are, at our core, still just girls.
In the video, Anna’s mom is brought to tears once the Disney World employees unbox the glass slipper. She then hugs her sister-in-law and son as the tears continue to flow. When asked if she wants to hold the glass slipper, which is positioned on an equally fragile ceramic pillow, she doesn’t want to. Who can blame her? If she waited this long to get her hands on the priceless item, she probably doesn’t want to risk dropping it before she even leaves the park. OK, maybe it’s not priceless, but to this mom, it appears to be.
Toward the end of the video, Anna’s mom apologizes for crying and says that the Cinderella slipper is “really cool.” It might not be an actual glass slipper that she can wear around the house once she gets home, but it’s a tangible replica from a movie that was likely a big part of her childhood, and it’s a moment that we can all relate to in some way.
“That’s not your mom in that moment,” one user commented. “That was your grandma’s little girl.”
That comment is a stark reminder of what kids tend to forget, and what they grow up to forget as adults themselves, maybe even until they have children of their own. Our lives from before don’t start and end as motherhood. Being a mom may be the most important part of a mother’s life, sure.
But there is still that little girl in there who is experiencing and viewing the world.
Another user commented, with a crying face photo of Julie Stiles from 10 Things I Hate About You, “We’re all just girls after all.” Truly.
“This world is full of unhealed children forced to be adults!” someone else commented. If ever there was proof of that, it’s this mom getting her Cinderella glass slipper after years of wanting one.
Not only is this mom getting something that means so much to her, but she was given the gift by her own child. Let that sink in for a second. The weight of that is not lost on most mothers, and that alone makes you want to cry tears of happiness for this mom.
“For people not understanding, this is probably what she’s wanted for years ever since she was little and it’s been a dream of hers,” another user wrote under the TikTok video. “She’s finally getting something that means the world to her.”
