Autopsy Report Reveals Just How Savagely Bryan Kohberger Murdered His Victims & Who Fought Back

It’s been more than three years since deranged killer Bryan Kohberger savagely murdered four students at the University of Idaho in November 2022. His victims, Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin, died horrific deaths as Kohberger brutally stabbed them over and over and over. The families of his victims hoped to learn more during his murder trial, but that never came to fruition. Weeks ahead of his scheduled trial in July 2025, Kohberger opted to plead guilty.

He received a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole as part of the plea bargain that guaranteed he would not face the death penalty. The details of the killings were so gruesome that authorities kept much of the information private. But a newly released autopsy report sheds light on the students’ very last moments alive.

People obtained key findings from the victims’ autopsies, and their deaths were just as horrific as we expected. According to the report, investigators found Goncalves and Mogen together in Mogen’s bedroom. Both women died from multiple sharp force injuries, but Goncalves also had blunt force head injuries and asphyxia injuries. Kohberger stabbed her at least 24 times. She had injuries to her teeth, tongue, scalp, and a nasal fracture.

Kohberger stabbed Mogen 13 times in the scalp, face, and neck, five times in the chest, and she had 10 incised wounds on her upper body, the autopsy report noted. Mogen had wounds on her liver and lungs and an incision on her nasal septum.

Chapin and Kernodle, who were in a relationship, were found dead in her room. Chapin was in the bed, and Kernodle was on the floor. Kohberger stabbed Chapin at least 17 times all over his body. He had stab wounds in both the jugular and subclavian vein and the subclavian artery.

Kohberger killed Goncalves, Mogen, and Chapin as they slept. Kernodle apparently did her best to fight off Kohberger, People reported. The monster stabbed her more than 50 times. She had 23 stab wounds to the face, neck, and scalp alone. But he kept going, stabbing her in the jugular vein, heart, and lungs for good measure. Investigators also found blood on her feet, indicating she moved around during the struggle. We can’t imagine how terrified she was and, at the same time, so brave.

After all of that, Kohberger walked out of the home as if he could just move on with his life and never speak of that night again. Luckily for everyone, authorities proved much smarter than Kohberger and arrested him on December 30, 2022.

He wasn’t just a murderer. Bryan Kohberger was a killer on a mission to brutalize his victims and ruin the lives of anyone who had to clean up what he left behind. Four life sentences doesn’t even come close to what he deserves.
