Savannah Guthrie’s 84-Year-Old Mother Is Missing & Police Believe She Was Likely Abducted From Her Home

Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today Show host Savannah Guthrie, reportedly disappeared from her Arizona home on early on February 1, 2026. Shockingly, authorities fear the woman’s home in the Catalina Foothills near Tucson, may be a crime scene. Neighbors reportedly last saw the 84-year-old woman on January 31. Investigators fear someone abducted Nancy Guthrie from her home. Her famous daughter took to social media to beg for answers and prayers at the end of the second day of the investigation.

In a statement shared with multiple outlets, including People, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said investigators believe someone took Nancy Guthrie from her home.

“As I said yesterday, we saw some things at the home that were concerning to us. We believe now, after we’ve processed that crime scene, that we do, in fact have a crime scene, that we do in fact have a crime and we’re asking the community’s help,” Nanos said.

“At this point, investigators believe she was taken from the home against her will, possibly in the middle of the night. Taken against her will includes possible kidnapping or abduction,” he continued.

In a separate interview, he told People, Nancy Guthrie did not struggle with cognitive issues. “She is really just as sharp as a tack,” Nanos explained. “And that too is concerning that here you have this lady who’s got all her wits about her, she knows what’s going on. So yeah, somebody came into that home, and I believe took her out there without her permission. It was against her will.”

In an update late on February 2, Savannah Guthrie shared a request on Instagram.

“We believe in prayer. we believe in voices raised in unison, in love, in hope. we believe in goodness. we believe in humanity. above all, we believe in Him. thank you for lifting your prayers with ours for our beloved mom, our dearest Nancy, a woman of deep conviction, a good and faithful servant. raise your prayers with us and believe with us that she will be lifted by them in this very moment,” Savannah Guthrie wrote. “We need you.”

The Pima County Sheriff’s Office said the last known sighting of Nancy Guthrie occurred at her home near East Skyline Drive and North Campbell Avenue. They asked anyone with information to come forward.

“If you have any information, including photos or video that may help with this investigation, please submit it through our Tip Line QR code. This allows information to be shared directly & securely with investigators,” the sheriff’s office noted. “Every detail matters. Even small tips could make a difference.”

Thankfully, Nancy Guthrie has a dedicated team working to find her and bring her home safely. This has to be terrifying for everyone, and our thoughts are with the whole family.
