What to Know
As one of 19 children, Jinger Duggar‘s parents, Jim Bob and Michelle, have their hands full with grandchildren in the double digits, even though Jinger is only a mom of three herself. As often as members of the family announce new pregnancies and new baby arrivals, there’s no doubt that some of these little ones aren’t being mentioned since the Duggars have taken a major step back in the way that they share their lives publicly. And now, Jinger is finally putting the question of hidden grandchildren to rest — well, kind of.
A fan asked Jinger about her family on Instagram.
During a (since expired) Q&A session on Jinger’s Instagram Stories, one fan asked her if her family had any “mystery Duggar grandkids” that the public might not know about.
Of course, the fan was probably asking about any babies that had been born without their announcements being shared on social media, but Jinger decided to take a more playful approach in answering the question.
“Maybe there are some that I don’t know about in a family as large as mine?! Haha jk,” she replied.
She also shared more of the realities of growing up in a big family.
Another fan asked her how many of the family’s birthdays she had memorized, including her nieces and nephews. And unsurprisingly, Jinger confirmed that remembering all those birthdays is just as tough as it sounds.
“I have my siblings’ birthdays and my parents’ birthdays memorized,” Jinger said. “Beyond that, in-laws? No. Nieces and nephews, maybe one or two? It’s one of those things where I kind of feel bad about it, but also at the same time, we’re at like 40 grandkids for my parents and that’s a lot to remember.”
She also added that she had family members who would send each of the kids in her family $5 and a birthday card on their birthdays, and though she wishes she could be that kind of aunt herself now, it’s just not possible. Are there even enough hours in the day?!
How many Duggar grandkids are there now?
While the count is (obviously) always changing, People has recently reported that Jim Bob and Michelle are now proud grandparents to 40 kids, so it sounds like Jinger’s estimation was right on the nose.
More grandkids are on the way this year, though. We already know that John and Abbie are expecting another baby, and who knows who else will have announcements to make soon?
