Once again, members of the Kardashian-Jenner family are being called out for seeming totally out of touch. This time, it’s because of a “grotesque” birthday party theme — and it’s so bad that people are wondering how Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott could be so “evil.” In case you didn’t know, Kylie and Travis are no longer together, but they still co-parent their children, Stormi, 8, and Aire, 4. The former couple welcomed both of their kids in February, and Aire was born just one day after Stormi’s fourth birthday. Obviously, a joint birthday celebration makes a lot of sense given that their birthdays are so close together, but this year’s party theme felt truly horrendous to many fans.
It looked Astroworld-themed.
The Kardashian-Jenner family often has elaborate decor at their parties, but this time, it just came across as tasteless and cruel. Not everything at the party was Astroworld-related, as a lot of Labubus were spotted at the celebration as well. But the entryway for the party garnered a lot of attention on social media because of the very obvious nod to Astroworld.
And if you’re wondering why this decor choice offended so many people online, it’s because 10 people died at Travis’ Astroworld Music Festival in 2021 due to a crowd surge. All of the victims were kids or young adults, and one of them was only nine years old. They all died from compression asphyxiation. Thousands of people were also injured.
Travis has said he didn’t hear people call for help.

According to him, he didn’t see signs that anything had gone wrong and it felt “like a regular show” to him, per People. More recently, he told Rolling Stone that people have “a distorted view of who I am and what I care about” due to the tragedy. And yet, he didn’t seem to have any issue using Astroworld-themed decor for his kids’ birthday party. People reacted to the party theme on Reddit and almost couldn’t believe it when they saw posts about the birthday party on social media.
“…There truly are no words to describe how hollow and creepy this is, I’m having trouble convincing my own eyes that it’s real,” one critic wrote in response. Another person said, “Re-traumatizing the victims families to re-use your played out decor is so pathetic.”
After all, as many others pointed out, people died at Astroworld, and to Kylie and Travis, this somehow feels like appropriate birthday party decor? People saw the party as evidence that Kylie and Travis “don’t care” and “feel no shame.” It also serves as another reminder that “money can’t buy class…or empathy…”
