What to Know
Of course, there have been plenty of royal scandals over the years, but the situation involving the former Prince Andrew‘s connection to Jeffrey Epstein (and his arrest last week) is going to be a tough one to top. And considering the fact that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were labeled as the real royal troublemakers not too long ago, some royal watchers are pointing out that compared to Andrew, what those two have been accused of in the past is practically nothing.
A once-viral video of Harry and Meghan is making the rounds again.
In honor of daughter Lilibet’s birthday last year, Meghan shared a video of herself in the hospital, waiting to give birth, as she did the viral “baby mama” dance as she was in labor. Of course, this isn’t how we’ve typically ever seen any member of the royal family behave in a video before — especially not one that they chose to share with the public!
At the time it was released, though, it became a huge controversy. Some people used the video as “proof” for the theory that Meghan was never actually pregnant with Lili to begin with because of the appearance of her bump (which was likely a bit misshapen because of a monitoring device around her belly that’s pretty typical for moms in labor to wear) or to call her “trashy” for dancing like this on camera.
Mind you, the dance was trending on social media at the time.
Looking back, why was this video controversial?
Given everything that has happened in the royal family since then, the video is now making the rounds on Reddit once more, where people are laughing at the idea that something like this was actually considered controversial when what’s going on with Andrew is obviously far more controversial.
“Remember how this was just so scandalous? A member of the royal family twerking?! Making a mockery of the institution I tell you!” one commenter wrote, as another added, “may they get justice one day.”
It sounds like Meghan’s not letting it get to her.
Despite the undeserved backlash Meghan’s received for the video, it sounds like she’s taken everything in stride.
“You have to be authentic. Did you see my ‘Baby Mama’ dance? That wasn’t yesterday, that was four years ago,” Meghan said during a June 2025 appearance on the Aspire with Emma Grede podcast. “It’s a really great reminder that with all the noise or whatever people do, there’s still a whole life — a real, authentic, fun life — that’s happening behind the scenes. I’m just grateful that now, being back on social as well, I have a place where I can share it on my own terms.”
