Viral ICE Photo Has People Asking if They Agents Are Old Enough To Be There

Thanks to Kristi Noem and Donald Trump’s constant promotion of ICE, more and more agents are popping up left and right. Apparently, some of those agents are barely out of puberty, because as someone shared to X, a pair of incredibly young-looking ICE agents were spotted at LaGuardia Airport in New York City.

In the photo, the two clearly very young ICE agents walk through the airport with vests and badges on display. One of them does have a sleeve of tattoos, which suggests he is definitely at least 18 years old. But, whether they are 18, 19, or even in their 20s, the ICE agents look so young that people had to pause just to wonder if the photo somehow has one of those baby filters on it. Just so we’re clear, no, it does not.

The ICE agents look comically young.

In the photo shared on X, two ICE agents walk through the LaGuardia Airport. They are likely part of the nationwide deployment of immigration officers sent to airports to aid TSA agents, but their presence has caused more problems than good. And for those who spotted the two fresh-faced ICE agents in the X post, it’s hard to take some of the younger and newer agents seriously.

“Those are literal children,” someone commented in response to the X post of the young ICE agents.

Someone replied to that with, “Damn are they recruiting ICE agents from Fortnite lobbies now?”

“These guys look like they should be headed to grade 12 science class, not being ICE at airports,” another person wrote.

Other users questioned if the ICE agents are actually in high school. Some even asked if they are in middle school, though clearly as a joke. Still, the youthful look of these two specific agents is wild, considering the job ICE agents are hired to do across the U.S.

Regardless of how old they actually are, the two agents are still visibly younger, and even smaller, than most ICE agents.

As someone pointed out on X, it is irresponsible for anyone to be “putting power and assumedly firearms in these children’s hands that have zero life experience and likely zero de-escalation skills.”

Making fun of how young the ICE agents might be nothing more than fun for some users on social media, but it’s possible that these actual agents are as young as 18 years old. In 2025, Kristi Noem appeared on Fox News and urged prospective ICE agents from the age of 18 and up to apply for a role with the Department of Homeland Security. Around the same time, the DHS announced online that there is no longer a cap on the age of individuals who want to apply for jobs as ICE agents.

People are urging the agents to just put their masks back on.

Until now, people have fought to have ICE agents remove their masks in public so that their identities can be known. When it comes to these little guys, though, people would rather them put their masks back on. A user on TikTok shared a video with other photos of considerably younger than usual ICE agents.

In her video, she repeats the jokes some people have said about the ICE agents being so young they look like they’re going to have their lunch money stolen. Or, a personal favorite, that one of them looks like they have a peanut allergy. People joked in the comments that these ICE agents make the entire operation feel like the movie and TV show 21 Jump Street about undercover police officers who go to high school.

When someone commented to ask how old the agents are, someone replied simply, “Nine.” And that’s really all you need to know about these children.
