Duggar Daughters Have Been Selling on Instagram for Years So Why Are Their Ads Still So Awkward?

No one shills products on Instagram quite like the Duggar family, particularly the adult Duggar daughters. The only thing is, according to some, the Duggars who share photos or videos trying to sell products they have partnered with, do so in a sort of cringe way that is hard to get over. Like courtships, tater tot casserole, and finally wearing pants, selling products on Instagram seems to be a rite of passage.

In a Reddit post, users called out specific Duggar daughters for their lackluster social media posts where they try to promote products. For most of the women, this is their livelihood and they’ve been at the game for years. But, that being the case, shouldn’t it come more effortlessly by now? Some of the Duggars just don’t have that it will factor as an Instagram promoter.

The adult Duggar daughters often sell products on social media.

All of the married Duggar daughters seem to make a living from selling or promoting items on Instagram. It’s hard to say exactly how much they each make, or if dad Jim Bob Duggar somehow gets a cut of the profits, but it’s the closest thing that most of them have gotten to having jobs outside of being wives and mothers.

However, according to the Reddit post, people have noted how cringe and even unprofessional some of the social media ads are when the Duggars post them. They might have grown up on television, thanks to 19 Kids and Counting, but apparently, nothing quite prepared them for this line of work.

“The girls’ ads are so bad, it’s so low effort and weird angles, looks so unnatural,” the Redditor wrote in the post. “Idk just odd to watch. I mean the Bates girls aren’t any better with the over performance and fake hands etc.”

“Jessa is awful at ads,” someone commented. “She looks physically uncomfortable.”

But the awkwardness doesn’t stop with Jessa Duggar.

“I think all of them are extremely awkward which makes ads extremely unnatural and performative,” another Redditor wrote on the post. “Jinger is the best at it, which isn’t saying a lot. Jana is the worst. I saw an ad of hers today and the awkwardness was painful to watch.”

Speaking of Jana, on another Reddit post, she was called out for her Instagram Stories where she tried to sell clothes with a promo code. Users poked fun at her “cringe” facial expressions, particularly a duck face pose that arguably went out of style around the same time as chunky statement necklaces.

“That’s what happens when you have to wait to be married to be allowed to test out things to find your personality,” someone commented. “Teenagers in full adult bodies.”

They don’t seem to have any kind of social media teams helping them out.

The issue, according to some, is that Jessa, Jinger, Jana, Joy-Anna, and Jill don’t have official media teams helping them out. At least, that anyone can see on the surface. For some of them, like Jill and Jinger, you have to assume they have some kind of management, given their memoirs and public appearances they have made. But, judging by their social media ads, some Redditors are sure it means they don’t get any help in what to say or do with ads.

A user joked that Jessa’s son is her photographer for her ads on Instagram. “Spurge E. Seewald photographer and PR for Blessa Incorporated,” they wrote.

Someone agreed, “I don’t think they have a PR team. It’s all DIY.”

And, another wrote, “I love the ones where they are like. ‘It’s so good. I like it. I just. Yeah. I like it. Wow. So good. I like it,’ over and over until they stop.”

Joy-Anna and Jinger Duggar allegedly have management.

If some of the adult Duggar daughters don’t have a PR team, according to one user on the post, Joy-Anna and Jinger have some help, even if their ads don’t really reflect that.

“Joy and Jinger use a talent management agency,” they commented. “Joy has posted about it. I don’t know about the others.”

The same user also wrote that the Duggars got in on the ground floor of selling and promoting content on Instagram. For the Duggar daughters in particular, they have been able to cash in on the homesteading type of lifestyle that those who support the family buy into. Literally.
