What to Know
Simone Biles, known as one of the most decorated U.S. gymnasts of all time, just went viral on social media for revealing how much it costs her to get her glam done for one single red carpet event. The price, which covers her hair, nails, and makeup, was surprising to her and she seemed genuinely interested in hearing from others if the bill she recently got for glam was normal. But, judging from her comment section, not only was the answer “nope” but her question caused quite the backlash.
Simone shared the cost of a single night of glam and it was a lot.
If you’re someone who loves to fantasize about what getting ready for a big movie premiere would be like or a red carpet event that’s chock-full of celebrities, you better be ready to foot a rather hefty bill!
Olympic gold medalist, Simone Biles, had a thing or two to share on TikTok in a recent video about attending a special red carpet event and what one night of glam ended up costing her. She starts out the video by explaining that if you’re someone who is an influencer, athlete, or celebrity, she’s hoping you might answer a few questions for her.
She prefaces what she’s about to share by saying, “I know going outside is expensive as f— these days.” Yes, Simone, this is very true. She explained that she ended up paying a professional hair and makeup team as well as a stylist a grand total of between $22K – $23K.
What she wants to know if that amount of money is fairly typical for people attending these types of events. She shared that if it is, she’s going to “sit her a– right here” and stay home! Honestly, we get it.
The comments section is majorly criticizing Simone for sharing such an unrelatable problem.
It’s almost cute because it kind of felt like Simone was trying to seem relatable to her followers with this dilemma, but most people in the TikTok comments were simply not buying what she was trying to sell!
One person in the TikTok comments put everything out on the line by replying, “…when people are struggling with basic necessities like food and healthcare.” Did you hear that, Simone? There’s no way that hardworking normal people can afford anything even close to $22K for a glamorous night out!
Another person in the comments couldn’t help themselves by cracking a joke related to the vast difference one would immediately recognize within the districts featured in The Hunger Games. “Checking in from district 12!” they wrote. Too funny.
One mom in the comments section was willing to drop a little helpful advice for Simone. “$22K Well, I’m a mom and I just went to a black tie event and my make up artist was my daughter,” they wrote.
Lots of people are baffled that professional glam and styling for an event costs thousands of dollars.
When it’s painful to even go to the grocery store, we can’t imagine dropping between $22,000 and $23,000 for glam and styling for a red carpet event.
One person in the TikTok comments had a guess about what the price might be, but they were way off. “I was thinking $10-$12K when said expensive….$22K is mind blowing…does that include keeping the dress/outfit and jewelry???” they asked. Another person in the comments shared, “For the month, or a night? Cause my jaws on the floor!” Right?
A few folks in this Reddit thread told Simone that she definitely had other options when it came to getting dressed and all glammed up for an event. One person commented, “Wtf. You can hire a hair and makeup team for way less than that,” they wrote. We would be curious to know if you’re able to price shop a bit when it comes to these things — can you sense our sarcasm?
Another individual in the Reddit comments thought that Simone should have gone old school with her style options. “23K to get dressed 🤣 Like, Sis, go to the mall and style yourself!!!” they wrote.
We want to know if this whole thing was actually enough to make Simone stay inside like she claimed or if she’ll be willing to drop another bundle of money on glam for another event in a few months. Only time will tell!
