What to Know
Apparently, listening to details about reproductive health is a real snoozefest for Donald Trump. He appeared to fall asleep during an Oval Office meeting about just that. And now, footage of that has gone viral on social media, including a post on X (formerly Twitter). The post features a short clip of the meeting where Trump seemingly dozes off.
He makes you want to say, “Sleepy Joe who?” Because, while MAGA enthusiasts once slammed Joe Biden for being slow moving and not very cognitively present and gave him that moniker, Trump continues to be caught in 4K sleeping, dozing, or something else that is definitely not what you might normally see a president do during an important meeting. I guess he was just up late on Truth Social doing his usual dozen posts in a row.
There are plenty of reasons given for why he seemed to doze off.

Whether you’re in the camp of insisting that Trump was not sleeping, or that he was absolutely dozing off without a care in the world for how it made him look, people have their reasons for what they saw in the video. Most of the explanations on X were made in jest of course. Because the reality is, if the sitting president was actually sleeping during a meeting, and not for the first time, what are we actually doing here?
One user on X jokingly suggested, “He was just trying to concentrate with his eyes closed.”
Another user shared a handful of photos of Trump appearing to sleep during other meetings. Along with the photos, they wrote, “The nodfather continues his unbroken napping streak live for the whole world to see. He might break a Guinness world record for most consecutive days sleeping on the job.”
“Bro hit REM sleep faster than he could say ‘fake news’ during his own meeting,” someone else commented on X.
Sometimes, all you can do is make jokes about these things. The alternative is to face facts that Trump cared very little for how he was perceived and that he feels he can get away with anything.
And, someone added, “Not the first time, I mean he did fall asleep doing court cases, press conferences etc before…Meanwhile look at the bright side: When he sleeps he can not cause any damage!”
The White House’s Rapid Response account addressed the video.
He was blinking, you absolute moron https://t.co/7gw3n7l8R3

The White House has another account on X outside of its official profile called Rapid Response 47. When a journalist posted about Trump falling asleep and shared an article with a photo of Trump with his eyes closed, the account replied, well, rapidly.
The account wrote, “He was blinking, you absolute moron.”
We’ve all had parents gaslight us into thinking they weren’t falling asleep on the couch when we were kids. They said things like, “I was resting my eyes.” Is that what this is? The White House is trying to gaslight us all into believing we aren’t seeing Trump lose consciousness during nap time because he’s stuck in meetings?
Someone replied to the Rapid Response 47 post with, “Agree. Trump is amazing! And he only needs two hours of sleep — as long as he gets in his eight hours of blinking everyday. #RipVanBlinkle.”
“If that’s blinking you might want to check for a pulse. Idiots,” another wrote.
This isn’t the first time Trump was caught falling asleep.
In April 2025, Trump was thought to have fallen asleep during the funeral for Pope Francis. He also appeared to fall asleep during an Antifa roundtable event. And, once again, that was caught on camera. Another time during his second term, when Marco Rubio spoke highly of him during a meeting about the war in Ukraine, Trump visibly nodded off.
But still, we are all being led to believe Trump does not fall asleep during meetings. Maybe it has something to do with his very advanced age, but apparently that’s too wild of a theory.
