What to Know
When Donald Trump and, apparently the whole gang, including Eric Trump, board Air Force One to head to China for a diplomatic meeting, it was expected that the massive plane would need a massive amount of fuel. What wasn’t expected is that Eric would shove it in Americans’ faces in a post on X (formerly Twitter). This is while the average American is trying to figure out how to afford groceries and gas, by the way.
In Eric’s post, he seemed to humblebrag about taking the plane with Trump and company. Well, scratch that, he seemed to just flat out brag, no humbleness included. And it did not sit well with users on X who have to refuel their own modes of transportation as well, but not on the country’s dime.
He seemed to brag about refueling the plane.

In Eric’s original X post, he shared a selfie with wife Lara Trump and another photo of Air Force one being refueled. He wrote, “Quick Refuel – Alaska.” When a user re-posted it, they wrote, as if quoting Eric, “The poors will think this is hilarious. They’re paying so much for gas right now!” And, when you look at both of the posts, it does sort of feel that way to other X users.
Gas prices are at a four-year high, and grocery costs are rising too. But sure, let’s brag about not only taking our own plane, but that we are casually refueling Air Force One.
“I have to believe those who are beyond rich in this life will be poor in the next,” one user wrote. I mean, if it’s their only coping mechanism, then let them have that hope.
Another wrote, “Yeah. They think it’s all one huge game. Guess when people begin to not be able to afford the basics, should they all find out that playing with We The People is a bad idea.”
Over on Eric’s actual post, someone wrote that the image of the fuel truck filling Air Force One is a clear insult to the American people without Eric actually saying it out loud. Yeah, that seems to be the point, at least according to some.
People think he did it on purpose.
Other users showed up to reply to Eric’s post and share their thoughts on his father and the investments they believe Eric and his family gained by taking the trip to China with Trump. The family hasn’t publicly shared that this was the goal for unofficial members of Trump’s team to be in attendance, but it’s what some think is what happened.
“Showing off your privilege on our taxpayer dollars, while your dad lied about everything and sold out America to Israel,” one hater responded to Eric’s X post.
Another wrote, more maliciously, “Must be nice being able to steal taxpayer money while your dad is president. Justice will come.”
Another user speculated about the future of the Trump name.
“The Trumps have turned out to be the biggest scumbag traitors America has ever seen,” they wrote. “Five years from now the name will be so toxic you will have to rebrand. Enjoy your betrayal.”
Some questioned why he flew to China with Trump anyway.
According to Reuters, Eric and Lara opted to travel to China with Trump because of the historic nature of Trump’s diplomatic visit to the country. A spokeswoman for Eric reportedly said, “He does not have business ventures in China nor plans on doing business in China. He will not be participating in private meetings, but will instead stand alongside the president to mark this historic occasion.”
That doesn’t make his trip any less confusing for the American people, though. Eric does not hold a political office, yet he still accompanied his dad on an official trip. And, some believe, it’s another elitist move from the Trump family.
