What to Know
Over the years, Josh Duggar has been at the center of multiple family scandals because of his own actions. From illegal to immoral acts, the eldest Duggar child has no limit, it seems, to what he will do and what he will put his family, including wife Anna Duggar, through. But every time the family was faced with a new scandal, Anna stood dutifully by his side.
Maybe it has something to do with turning the other cheek when it comes to Josh’s mistakes. In an old 19 Kids and Counting clip on TikTok, Anna makes breakfast for the rest of the Duggar kids and talks about breaking the rules when their parents aren’t around and about self-control. Pot, meet kettle.
Anna Duggar had a lot to say about the Duggar kids’ rule breaking

In the clip, Anna visits the main Duggar house to help out with meals while Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar are away. We don’t even need to get into what she makes just yet. Because she says something in the clip from the episode that, in hindsight, is so wild. You know, given all of Josh’s scandals and his inability to follow rules or have self-control.
“I think this is a good opportunity to practice self-control,” Anna tells the kids, as they fight for some apple slices from the feeding trough, I mean bowl. She then tells producers, “Mom and Dad are usually the ones setting the rules, and so when Mom and Dad go away, I think children a lot of times wonder does that mean the rules went away too?”
After the TikTok user posted the clip, other users and Duggar aficionados commented to share their thoughts about the oldest Duggar child. And yes, they are in agreement that the irony is so palpable, but that Anna will likely never see it that way.
The user who posted the video says after she pauses the clip, “I think the lesson in self-control needs to be directed towards your husband. Yeah, Anna. The kids probably know more self-control than your husband f–king does.”
Her cooking skills are also questionable.

The 19 Kids and Counting clip also shows what Anna makes for the gaggle of kids and teenagers who still live at home at this point in the show. She brings loaves of bread, presumably for toast, and a ton of apples. She then gives Grandma Duggar the task of slicing up some apples to go with it. And then there’s Jed Duggar, who is doing the actual toasting of the bread. But the Duggars aren’t exactly known for their culinary skills.
In one episode of 19 Kids and Counting, Anna makes fish as a “healthy” lunch option for Josh and their young kids. In another episode, she uses canned green beans as a staple. Canned vegetables are just fine, but the lack of fresh vegetables with the Duggars is astounding. There’s also another episode where Anna makes “chicken etti,” or chicken spaghetti.
In a Reddit post about that very dish, some users agreed that it looks and sounds pretty awful.
“Oh God, it looks like someone ate pasta, a block of Velveeta, and canned salsa and then threw it all up,” someone commented. “Did it really taste good? Ewww.”
Another person added, “I actually tried this once. I don’t know how anyone likes it. It actually made me gag when I tried to swallow it. And I’m not exactly a picky eater!”
She was just as nonchalant during Josh Duggar’s Ashley Madison scandal.

But getting back to Anna being lazy with Josh but pretty outspoken about his siblings and their rule breaking, Anna has always been that way with her headship and leader of her family. When she found out Josh cheated on her through the Ashley Madison website, she spoke about it on television and shared that it was a shock to her and devastating.
However, at another time in a Counting On episode, she says that some women may complain about how husbands act but, Anna says with a smirk, “At least I have a husband.” And for many Duggar fans and followers, that iconic quote is still not-so-fondly remembered.
