Editor’s Picks: May 2026

We’re celebrating so much this month! It’s slowly (very slowly) getting warmer in much of the country, the sun shines a little brighter a little later each day, and flowers have been peeking out of the cold ground. Many of us are wrapping up our kids’ school year and others are getting close to doing so. And, of course, it’s going to be Mother’s Day, so hopefully moms will get to be pampered and treated like the Queens that we all are over these next several days. But even if some of us just want to sleep in a little later, we can always treat ourselves.

We’ve rounded up some really cute items that just bring us joy. And, of course, because we’re always thinking of our kids, we’ve also included some fun things that make us happy to use for them. Check out our Editor’s Picks for the month of May 2026!

POSCA Colored Pencils

Both of my kids love to create art and one of their favorite brands of art supplies is POSCA. They both love the viral POSCA paint markers and regularly use them to draw as well as customize their favorite items. So when POSCA recently released colored pencils, I had to nab some for them. The quality of these colored pencils is seriously superior. They feature a wax-hybrid formula that is super smooth and creamy and a break-resistant core that helps avoid frustration. The colors are incredibly vivid and they can be used on paper, canvas, wood, metal, plastic, and painted surfaces, so there are lots of creative possibilities for kids — and adults — of any age.

Riv Beauty Razor

As someone who has always suffered with shaving irritation, I’ve tried a lot of different razors. Most recently I started using a weighted safety razor to help prevent irritation, which is good, but a little scary to use. So, when I heard about the new Riv Beauty razor, I knew I wanted to try it. Dubbed a “luxury razor” it has the weighted handled I’ve come to love, which helps with irritation because you don’t have to apply so much pressure to get a decent shave, but it also provides the comfort and ease of a standard refillable cartridge razor. This razor is designed for sensitive skin and is constructed with five, super-sharp blades for a close shave in one swipe, which helps minimize razor burn and bumps. Plus, the company is mom- and LGBTQ-owned, which we can always get behind. The starter kit includes a handle and two refills.

WanderFull HydroTote

WanderFull is a company that literally makes the smartest, most innovative bags. They’re so good they will actually make your life easier. After falling in love with their HydroBags last year, I recently got my hands on the WanderFull HydroTote and I’m just as impressed. The HydroTote is spacious, but still lightweight and it has a place for everything, which is perfect for keeping organized on the go. This bag even has an interior water bottle pocket with a drawstring to keep your bottle from tipping over, there’s a built-in laptop case, and tons of useful pockets to carry all your necessities, whether you’re using it as a diaper bag or a personal item on your next trip. There’s even a separate pocket for stinky gym shoes! We love that this bag also features an adjustable shoulder strap and a built-in luggage strap as well. WanderFull has literally thought of everything.

Rip Tie Hairties

I cannot even tell you how many times my daughter’s hair has ended up in a matted, knotted mess that takes an hour to detangle after swimming or a sweaty hike. I would never keep her from doing fun, active things outdoors because of hair, but it really is a pain in the butt to deal with. Enter Rip Tie, born out of that very frustration, these hairties are a “wrap‑around, friction‑reducing” hair accessory designed to combat the hair mussing effects of wind, saltwater, and outdoor gear. Constructed with an elastic tie on each end, connected with braided elastic, the hairtie gets twisted around your ponytail and then secured again at the end, keeping strands in place and free of tangles and permanent damage. They are so easy to use and come in a bunch of colors. There are even different lengths available as well as multi-packs. These are a new, summer must-have for sure.
