Therapists are supposed to be a neutral sounding board to help guide clients through everything from everyday challenges to mental health disorders. However, one mother was shocked when she realized her therapist carried much different political ideologies than herself.
Cole (@nicolekatelynn1) shared a TikTok about “creeping” on her new therapist online, only to easily find the therapist’s social media profiles with blatant political imagery and messaging that she vehemently disagreed with.
The TikToker and mom of one explained that she had specifically shared information about some of her personal struggles with the MAGA movement with her new therapist, so she was downright shocked to find the therapist proudly sporting a MAGA red hat in her profile picture.
Cole revealed that her therapist was "not only MAGA," but "like red hat wearing, cover photo was make MAHA, like Charlie Kirk sharing, rally-attending MAGA."
Some commenters told Cold the therapist should be reported.
Many of Cole’s followers seemed to share her beliefs, calling for the therapist to be reported and validating Cole’s feelings as very valid.
“I don’t think you are overreacting,” noted one TikToker. “You no longer feel safe with her.”
“That’s like confessing to a spy,” quipped another, which prompted Cole to reply:
“Literally how I felt lmfaoooo trauma.”
Cole ended her video by assuring her followers that she had found a new therapist and issued a warning to other therapy-seekers to perhaps do a little research on if their prospective therapists are someone they can feel safe with before booking.
“Be careful out there,” Cole warned. “Be careful who you’re giving your money to.”
