Adam Sandler’s daughters are all grown-up now and they’re starring in his latest movie. His two daughters, Sunny, 14 and Sadie, 17, play his daughters in the Netflix film You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah, which premieres later this month. It’s hard to believe that the Sandler girls are teenagers, but it’s great to see them on screen with dear old dad.
Cohen explained that the Sandlers “made me part of the family,” which really enhanced the filmmaking experience for her.
“It was this really beautiful thing where everyone had space to do their own thing, but always had support when they needed it. There’s a natural chemistry you get with the Sandlers that makes everything feel real and slice-of-life,” she continued.
This isn’t the first time Sunny and Sadie (and Adam’s wife Jackie) have been in one of his films; both girls were in his films Jack and Jill and Pixels. Jackie and the girls were also featured in the Grown Ups movies.
Acting like a girl planning her bat mitzvah wasn’t hard for Sunny — she had her own right before they filmed the movie!
Her party was attended by celebrities like Adam’s frequent co-stars Jennifer Aniston and Taylor Lautner, and performances from Halsey and Charlie Puth. Guests went home with a sweatshirt and sweatpants with Sunny’s name on them.
“It was a big coming-of-age moment for everyone. And filming the movie felt like a continuation of that,” Cohen told Tudum about filming.
You Are So Not Invited to My Bat Mitzvah drops on Netflix on August 25.
