Man Accused of Murdering Wife & Driving Through Several States With Her Body Propped Up Beside Him

Lanessa Bradford and Tyronne Brazille were married for a long time, but their relationship wasn’t perfect. Bradford reportedly planned to leave Brazille, but that never happened. Instead, he allegedly shot and killed his wife and drove with her dead body beside him for days.

Brazille took off from Baton Rouge and wound up in Memphis, where police pulled him over on August 13, 2026, for a traffic violation and made the grisly discovery. He now faces a charge in his wife’s murder.

Bradford wound up dead following an argument.

WREG reported that Bradford and Brazille got into an argument after being together at Independence Community Park in Baton Rouge. Brazille allegedly shot Bradford, then put her body in his car. He then allegedly drove through several states with Bradford propped up beside him as if she were alive. Her dear friend, Shelicka Decker, told the news outlet that Bradford’s coworkers called police for a welfare check after she missed several days of work.

Bradford’s employer, East Baton Rouge Schools, confirmed she worked at Melrose Elementary. The district shared a statement with WAFB that reads in part.

“Ms. Bradford will be deeply missed, but the care she showed for others and the impact she made on our students will remain a part of the Melrose Elementary family. We are grateful for the time she shared with us and for the many lives she touched.”

Things apparently changed recently in the couple’s relationship.

Decker told WREG that Bradford and Brazille had been married for a long time and that things seemed OK in their relationship until recently. She said Brazille allegedly started to physically abuse Bradford and threatened to kill her if she ever tried to get away. Decker said she never thought Brazille would actually do it.

“It’s such an unfortunate situation, like everybody, she was such a good person. Everybody, she uplifted a lot of people, a lot of parents,” Decker said. “My prayers are with her family and friends as well as his, because we were all friends. We all, you know, hung around each other, and this is just not the same person that we grew up with.”

Decker said Bradford had plans to leave.

Bradford evidently wanted a new life away from Brazille. Per WAFB, the couple married in 2003 and were both 50 years old.

“She had the money saved up. She had come up with a plan, and she was going to just vanish. That was the only way she would be able to get away from him,” said Decker. “She was going to leave her car, she was going to leave all the things behind, and she had been in touch with her family that was out of town, and that’s how she was going to make this move to get away.”

Decker added that she will never understand what went wrong.

“I have so many questions, like, what were you doing in the car with her that amount of time while she was deceased,” Decker said. “Where was his mind at during that ride? Like, it’s so crazy. It’s so crazy and heartbreaking.”
