Even though there are lots of positives, it can be such a strange thing to live in a digital world where you can never really be sure what you’re seeing online is true. Even something as precious as a baby announcement that you would think most people would take seriously, you just can never know nowadays.
What about a social media post that looks a lot like a baby announcement, but it’s actually a ‘baby canceled’ proclamation from a woman who claims that the baby’s father wasn’t a suitable partner? There’s a lot to unpack here, including how some people on the internet feel about someone announcing they’re terminating a pregnancy with a post that’s akin to a pregnancy announcement. Is it all a bit too much?
Well, this is certainly a unique way to share that your baby plans have changed.
Are you someone who immediately clicks the ‘like’ button and breaks out into a smile when you spot a baby announcement on social media? Now, what about a post that looks suspiciously like a quintessential baby announcement that expectant parents put up on social media, but it’s actually pronouncing to the world that the baby has been “canceled?” Pretty different, right?
According to BoredPanda.com, an Instagram user who calls herself Moraa shared a “Baby Canceled” post in August 2026 that told followers on a little onesie included in the shot that “Mommy changed her mind” because “Daddy wasn’t s—.” It even stated that the baby’s due date was April 2027.
The graphic is definitely causing a stir as it’s garnered over 180,000 likes on Instagram as it features what looks like an ultrasound image, baby booties, and wooden blocks that spell out ‘Baby.’
There’s been a mixed response online with some people finding this post to be completely insensitive.
In a world where so many people are trying to start families and dealing with infertility and pregnancy losses, this ‘baby canceled’ post on social media immediately sparked a heated debate.
Surprisingly, there were some people who found this type of announcement to be almost liberating and the smart choice, especially if you’re with someone who you already know it won’t work out with romantically.
One person commented on the Instagram post, “Lowkey wish more women were like this. It’s called intelligence. But I ain’t finna argue nobody in the comments.” Another shared, “It ain’t never been smart to bring kids into a world of chaos. Good for you lol 🤎.”
While others did not feel the same. One person called the ‘baby canceled’ post “sick asf.” Another shared, “This is not funny idk how people normalize this c—.” Another individual used very colorful language by commenting, “This is f—– up.” Do you agree?
After all that, it turns out that the post was a bad joke.
According to BoredPanda.com, when Moraa started to notice that her social media post was starting to get some backlash, she shared on Instagram that it was all actually supposed to be taken as a joke.
Her caption shared that she had always dreamed of being a “star” and she has hopes of being “on TV one day,” so she was hoping this post would work to help her go viral and open doors to lots of other opportunities.
At the end of the caption she shared, “FYI: That Post Was A Joke I Get Paid To Troll 🤣😇.” Well, this was certainly a distinct way to try and go viral, we’ll give her that. Maybe next time she could just try doing a really bad skit or something?
