Recently, I welcomed a baby girl into my family — it’s been an absolute whirlwind since she was born, but we’re finally coming out of the newborn bubble and getting back to our daily routines. Of course, like most babies, my daughter wants to be held nearly all the time. While cuddling my baby is the best feeling, it does make it difficult to get things done, whether that’s work, household chores, eating a quick meal, or walking the dog. There’s only so much parents can get done when their baby wants to be held.
Enter the baby swing! Most babies love movement, so a swing can be the perfect solution — you can put your baby down, keep them entertained, and have your hands back to do things around the house.
Once the swing was ready, I placed my baby in it and turned on the control panel. It was easy to figure out what each button was for, and I quickly started testing each of the settings. My daughter loved the mix of motions — the swing doesn’t just go side-to-side, it makes different shapes and tilts forward and backward.
My daughter had two favorite parts: the toy and the music. Although the hanging elephant toy is simple, my daughter couldn’t stop staring at it and smiling — I love that the toy is removable, so I can let her play with it even when she’s not in the swing (or swap it out for other hanging toys to make sure she’s engaged). The preset sounds are upbeat and baby-friendly, and my daughter was kicking her feet to the beat. Of course, there are also lullaby-type sounds to soothe and calm babies, too.
The remote control is a great feature, because it means parents can control the swing from across the room, which means it’s perfect for me to be able to send an email or start a load of laundry (which every parent knows is a non-stop chore). Speaking of laundry, the seat cover is machine washable, which means those inevitable messes are easy to clean.
