15 Extravagant Celebrity Valentine’s Day Gifts

For many normal couples, Valentine's Day may be a day for giving some sweet tokens of affection. Maybe quality chocolates or flowers that hopefully didn’t come from the gas station (a girl can dream!). For some celebrity couples, Valentine's Day is just another day for going totally over the top with lavish and expensive gifts. With gifts costing tens to hundreds of thousands of dollars, it is pretty clear that, no, actually, stars aren't just like us.

Although it can be easy to feel jealous of all the fancy stuff and amazing experiences that celeb couples might give each other, it's also interesting to see that there appears to be no correlation between fancy gifts and relationship happiness. Plenty of stars on this list who got a V-day gift with a major wow factor got dumped or divorced by the time the next Valentine's Day rolled around.

Even though we’ll probably never wake up to Kenny G playing in our living room, at least we can comfort ourselves with the fact that we’ll also never end up in the tabloids if and when our funny Valentine becomes our hated ex. Read on for 15 epic Valentine’s Gifts and to learn which couples have survived to gift again this year.

Good Morning, Kenny G

This is both an over-the-top Valentine's Day gift and what looks a little like a horror story where Kenny G is trapped by roses in a giant white prison cell. We all know that Kanye West and Kim Kardashian loved the big money gifts, and we know how that relationship ended.

Time's Up for Cardi B

One of the expensive gifts Cardi B got from her currently estranged husband Offset (as of today because they do tend to get back together) was a Patek Phillipe watch. These fancy watches go for thousands to hundreds of thousands of dollars, so this 2021 V-Day gift was pricey for sure.

According to TMZ, a young Justin Bieber once bought out an entire flower shop to fill Selena Gomez's home with February flowers. This gesture was way back in 2011, when the couple was still in the early stages of their on-again, off-again relationship.

Olive Branches for Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie

A few years before they started their brutal and lengthy divorce battle, Angelina Jolie gave Brad Pitt something that usually symbolizes peace. CBS reported that she gave him a 200-year-old olive tree worth more than $18,000 and had it planted at their French estate.

Valentine's Day on Wheels for Russell Brand

Katy Perry and Russell Brand were only married from 2010 to 2011, so they didn't get many chances to celebrate Valentine's Day as a married couple. In 2010, Katy made the most of her chance and gave Russell a vintage car worth over $300,000.

Bling for a Spice Girl

OK, let's take a break from the couples that flamed out and highlight one couple that gives big gifts AND has stayed together. In 2006, David Beckham took the jewelry route and gave Victoria an $8 million diamond and ruby necklace that matched her Met Gala look for the year. Nice!

A Helicopter Engagement

There are two schools of thought on Valentine's Days engagements. One camp says that popping the question on Valentine's Day is the ultimate romantic gesture on the most romantic day. The other camp thinks this is the cheesiest possible day to get engaged

Hopefully Katy Perry is in the first camp because her 2019 Valentine's Day involved getting a big ring and boyfriend Orlando Bloom proposing. The couple is still together but haven't quite made it down the aisle yet.

The Big Ring for Christina Aguilera

Another celebrity who got a very large and shiny engagement ring on Valentine's Day was Christina Aguilera. Boyfriend Matthew Rutler proposed all the way back in 2014, but they've also been in no hurry to make it to the altar. They are still together and share a daughter but haven't gotten hitched yet. This year will mark the 10-year anniversary of their engagement.

Dinner With the Turtles for Lori Harvey and Michael B. Jordan

Black Panther star Michael B. Jordan rented out an entire aquarium to treat his then girlfriend Lori Harvey to a private tour and dinner. This was how the couple celebrated their first Valentine's Day together in 2021. They would go on to have one more Valentine's Day before breaking up in 2022.

Model and actress Rebecca Romijn and actor Jerry O'Connell have been together since 2005 and married since 2007. One of the Valentine's gifts Rebecca has revealed was big in terms of size (and probably cost!): Jerry had a vineyard planted at their California home so they could start making their own wine.

Roses and More for Kylie Jenner

In 2022, shortly after the birth of their second child together, rapper Travis Scott went all out at the florist shop to fill Kylie Jenner's home with dozens and dozens of flowers as well as a giant pink teddy bear made out of, yep, more flowers. The flowers died eventually, and so did their relationship as the two have since split up.

Chrissy Teigen and John Legend love a fancy Valentine's Day dinner and aren't afraid to take a private jet to get there. In 2015, John surprised Chrissy by putting her on a plane for a mystery date, and in 2020, the couple flew to the famous French Laundry restaurant for dinner on the big day.

Decked Out Phone for Beyoncé

Beyoncé and Jay-Z have been together for more than 20 years (!) and have a ridiculous amount of money between the two of them, so there's no doubt they've had plenty of occasions to drop some dough on an extravagant Valentine's Day gift. In 2009, for example, Jay-Z spent over $20,000 to give Bey a platinum-covered cellphone. So practical.

The Gift of Blood?

Jewelry is a common enough Valentine's Day gift, but Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly took it in a darker direction on Valentine's Day 2021. Megan gave the rapper a pendant with some of her blood inside it. He posted on Instagram that he was proud to "wear your blood around my neck." The couple are still together, though they've had their on-again, off-again moments since 2021.

Courteney Cox and David Arquette were married for 13 years before splitting in 2010. Prior to that split, Courteney gave one of the more unusual Valentine's gifts on this list: an antique carousel horse. According to a story in Hello! magazine, the horse was worth $45,000. No word on who got custody of the vintage ride after they split.
