When we talk about the flawless pillar of English beauty known as Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge herself, it's easy to forget that she's a real person and not a fairy princess. Even though she's British royalty, she manages to remind us that she's a normal mom to three sweet kids. It's tough being a mom to begin with, but let's all remember that Kate tackles motherhood with the entire world watching her. So much respect for this duchess.
In her public appearances, Kate always looks poised and polished. Even more memorable than her outfits or accessories are the adorable moments she shares with Prince George and Princess Charlotte. The duchess is great at being able to forget that the cameras are there and just focus on her children.
It's hard to remember that Kate, although a duchess, is still figuring out this whole mom thing just like the rest of us. And we think that she has done an amazing job of using her position in the public eye to be a role model for all moms out there who are struggling as well.
So, if you're a mom just trying to do the best for your kids, just remember that the Duchess of Cambridge is doing the same thing. Let’s take a look at some of Kate's most relatable mom moments!
Love That Post-Baby Bump
We loved when Kate wasn't ashamed of the baby bump that stuck around after she gave birth to Prince George. Here's hoping it inspired more than a few moms to embrace their post-pregnancy bodies.
Safety Dance
Kate set a great parenting example on the way to George's christening by keeping him safe in a rear-facing car seat.
Runaway Baby
Kate looks picture-perfect in this striking red military-style coat, but she isn't concerned about ruining the moment in order to keep her fidgety son from making a run for it.
Thou Who Smelt It
We appreciate Kate's ability to smile elegantly even when her son is going to the bathroom in her arms.
George, You've Got a Little Something on Your Face
Kate causes a few British royalty snobs to reach for their smelling salts as she wipes some slobber off of George's cute little face and then cleans her hand off on her dress.
Hairy Potter
Being a mom means accepting that your kid doesn't care how expensive your blow-out is, he's going to eat your hair.
Splendor in the Grass
Kate demonstrates that the possibility of getting grass stains on your designer duds is no obstacle to playtime with your kiddo.
Walk This Way
Kate encourages her little polo-player-in-the-making while William plays in the Jerudong Trophy Polo Match.
The Camera's Over Here, George!
Prince George really doesn't get the whole family-photo-op thing, but Kate doesn't seem to mind. Her love for her directionally challenged son is apparent in every photo.
A Helping Hand
Sometimes even a prince needs a little boost. In 10 years, George will probably be really glad there was a photographer around to capture this moment.
She Can't Help It
It's understandable that Kate couldn't help feeling a little smug about bringing such a precious baby into the world.
Whiskey Rebellion
We respect a duchess who enjoys her whiskey when she's not around the kids!
In the Words of George Takei, 'Oh My!'
It looks like George said something cheeky in front of his great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth. We have to give credit to Kate and William for trying to keep a straight face!
Hey Sister, Go Sister
Is there anything sweeter than the moment a big brother or sister falls in love with his or her new sibling? Here Kate radiates happiness as George checks in on his newborn sister Charlotte.
Funny Face
Kate's doing that embarrassing mom thing — making goofy faces around kids even when they aren't her own. If she weren't already Duchess of Cambridge, she'd make a great Mary Poppins!
Party Fun
What's childhood without fun and exciting birthday parties? We can just imagine Kate mingling with the other moms there.
Bundled Up
Not all of us can imagine skiing in the French Alps, but we all know what it's like to worry about our kids being warm enough. It looks like Kate Middleton made sure everyone was cozy before heading out into the snow in 2016.
Pure Amazement
Part of being a parent is taking part in your children's joy. The whole royal family looks to be having a great time — except for maybe William.
Tantrum Time
All little kids throw fits — even royal ones. But we think Kate handled Charlotte's public display of annoyance with grace.
Mommy Duty
She may be at an important royal event, but Kate proves that her only daughter comes first.
Running After the Kiddos
Even the Duchess of Cambridge has to run after her kids sometimes.
Newborn Love
Kate obviously loves all three of her children equally, but there's something about that newborn magic. Thank goodness she has Prince William, who is obviously happy to take over caring for George and Charlotte while mom is busy with Louis.
Not Always About Baby
Of course all our eyes were on the baby when Prince William and Kate Middleton introduced us to Prince Louis in 2018, but we were really spellbound by the way this mom kept looking at her husband after giving birth to their third child. How sweet!
Fun in a Fort
During this visit to the Scouts' headquarters at Gilwell Park in 2019, Kate wasn't afraid to get down in dirt with the kids. We bet Prince George would be jealous of this awesome fort!
Sweet Snuggles
Sometimes a girl just needs her mama, even if it's on a grassy knoll while attending your dad's charity polo match. We love this moment between Kate Middleton and Princess Charlotte captured on film.
Wedding Wear
Half our job as moms is making sure our children are dressed appropriately for the occasion. We're willing to bet Kate Middleton bribed George and Char with candy to get them dressed to the nines for Aunt Pippa Middleton's wedding in 2017.
Corralling Kids
Just a month after giving birth to Prince Louis, Kate was already in full-on mom-mode at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding, taking charge of the little bridesmaids, including her daughter, Princess Charlotte.
Visiting the In-Laws
Prince William and Kate Middleton shuffled the kids into the backseat in 2017 to visit Buckingham Palace for Christmas lunch. We especially loved Char's dazed look here — it looks like she had too much fun opening presents from Santa that morning!
Keeping It Casual
The Cambridge's 2018 Christmas card photo was perfect in every way. We love Kate's jeans, the unposed kids, and can we talk about the look on Prince Louis's face? He's obviously a mama's boy already.
Yes, Dear?
Duchess or not, Kate Middleton is there when her kids need her. We'll never know what she and Princess Charlotte were talking about here at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding, but we wouldn't be surprised if Char was asking for a snack or a bathroom break. Something all moms can totally relate to.
