Prince William may be the one who gets all the glory — what, with his whole "Future King of England" title and all — but when it comes down to it, Kate Middleton rules the roost. Big time.
Sure, she seems all demure and prim and proper in public, but once in a while we catch a glimpse of the Princess of Wales' true nature, and there's no two ways about it: She's a boss babe. And yes, we'd like to see more of that, thankyouverymuch.
Even though Meghan Markle is the one who was labeled "demanding" and "diva-like" by the media during her time as a working royal, there's no denying the fact that Kate has a little something brewing underneath her polished surface, as well. She may be portrayed as the quintessential smiling English Rose by the majority of newspapers and websites — and for the most part, maybe she is — but we see a different side of Kate now and again. And we're seriously into it.
From looks of unmasked irritation to obvious feelings of ennui to saying her piece to William with nothing more than a single look, here are the times Kate was a straight-up boss babe. We like seeing this little edge to her. Wonder if William does, too?

Watch out, world, here comes the future queen of England. Does she open her own car door? Yeah, that would be a "no." But after more than a decade of being a part of the royal family, we have the feeling that Kate hasn't opened her own door in a long time. She's used to it!

Is Kate at a royal engagement here? Sure is. But is she showing that she's completely over it. Yep! We have a feeling these kinds of things were exciting at first, but now that she's used to it, it's just like going to work. Ah, yes, being a princess is so passé.

It's pretty routine for members of the royal family to be driven around by a chauffeur, but William and Kate like to keep things as normal as possible for their family. Even so, when the future King of England is your driver, you're officially a boss. Chop, chop, William! Don't want to be late.

Not only does Kate just look right disembarking a private jet, she looks like it's totally old to her at this point. Again, like royal engagements in general, it's NBD. Just another day, traveling in a private plane. The life of a princess must be such a drag!

Walking down the red carpet in a gorgeous blue gown, Kate looks every bit the princess. But she also looks like she doesn't want to talk to commoners. To be totally fair, though she and William do appear on their share of red carpets, they tend to avoid being flashy about it the way many celebrities are.
Wimbledon, No Biggie
When your casual date night is sitting front row at Wimbledon next to the prime minister, you're officially a boss. And what makes it even better is the fact that having primo seats to attend more than one match during the famous tennis competition every single year is just a regular part of Kate's summer plans.
Dog Town
Does Kate want to talk to the guards? No, she does not. But she will chat up this cute pooch. Given that she's an animal lover, it's never a surprise when we see her in her glory anytime she's at an event where there's a dog to pet. They are much preferable to humans!
That Royal Life
When you're sitting in the back of a car with the future King of England in a tiara, there's no two ways about it: You're a boss. Of course, she doesn't just get to wear the tiara anytime she wants (the rule is that they're typically only worn for formal evening events) but she looks pretty good in it!

Not only is Kate wearing a gorgeous Frozen-inspired dress here, she's staring daggers out into the crowd. Nobody can do Elsa quite like Kate can, but it might be because she's training to be a queen consort someday — and as we know, Elsa was a queen herself for a while.

Not exactly sure what's going through Kate's mind here, but she's obviously wasn't to be messed with at this moment. Though we will admit that nobody does suit sets quite like Queen Elizabeth did, we do know that Kate learned from the best. She looks like such a boss!

When an heir to the throne is the butt of your jokes, you're pulling serious rank. Nice pretzel, William. More than once, we've seen that Kate adores mocking her husband and playing pranks on him when the opportunity arises. That's never changed, even considering his royal status.

Does Kate care that she's in the middle of a crowd here? She does not. When a literal princess gets a craving for sweets, she satisfies it. Hey, she carries a lot of responsibilities on her shoulders as a member of the royal family. Let the lady have a lollipop!

We love Kate, but there's absolutely no denying the fact that there's the tiniest bit of smugness on her face here. We'd probably look the same. She gets to sip a glass of champagne while technically at work, which is something most of us will never get to do.

More impressive than her exiting a private jet is the fact that she's holding a toddler while wearing an all-white suit. Wow. It takes a real boss to wear all white as a mother of young children, no matter who you are or what you're doing. We hope Charlotte cooperated!
