In terms of acing royal fashion, Meghan Markle has passed with flying colors since she gained HRH status. She's only been in the royal family for just over a year, but the Duchess of Sussex has adapted to the fashion peculiarities of the royals as well as any of us could have imagined. However, it's not always tiaras and high heels for Meghan nowadays. Before she was a royal, she got to wear sneakers, leggings, and hats whenever she pleased. Now, things have changed for her slightly, but every once and a while, she gets to break out her more sporty ensembles. For this duchess, though, sporty could still mean dresses and heels in the right setting.
Meghan has been quite the trailblazer since joining the royal family, so why wouldn't she be the same even with her more casual outfits? Sure, she rocks the typical sneakers, jeans, and jackets when going for a more athletic look, but she's also wearing heeled boots or dresses in these sporty environments too. But because Meghan was so fond of yoga and all things athletic before she met Prince Harry, it's really no surprise that she would try to incorporate some of that into her royal fashion now. Her sporty outfits are definitely more fancy than they used to be, but there are still elements of that old Meghan.
So, because Meghan can undoubtedly do it all when it comes to fashion, here are 20 of her best sporty looks. Some may be more unconventional than others!
Rainy Weather Chic
Even in some less-than-perfect weather, Meghan knows how to make a casual sporty outfit look super chic. Because this duchess doesn't sport casual outfits very often, she usually sticks to the basics when going with athleisure. Can't go wrong with jeans and some wellies, right?
Making a Dress ... Sporty?
Like we said before, Meghan doesn't do causal very often, which might explain why she thought a dress was a good choice for a day when she was going to be participating in athletic activities. Hey, if she can pull it off, why not?
Army Gal
Just like Kate Middleton, one of Meghan's go-to sporty looks is plopping on an army or military jacket over a casual outfit. Sure, the duchess still has heeled boots on, but this is about as athletic as it gets sometimes for her. Unless, of course, she's on her way to yoga.
Built for the Farm
When Meghan and Harry took their trip Down Under, they were put to work, that's for sure. The couple did some manual labor on a farm, and Meghan showed up wearing a working gal outfit. Just look at that stance … she was ready for anything.
A Walk in the Woods
There's one thing we know for sure: Meghan has the casual chic thing down pat at this point. We wouldn't think jeans and just a pair of flats could look sporty and stylish, but Meghan's woods outfit proves that they can be. Such talent.
The Business of Sporty
Here Meghan has found the perfect combination of sporty and businesswear. She looks as if she could go straight from running a board meeting to her squash match with just a change of shoes. If we had to guess, we'd say that was definitely the duchess's intentions when choosing the outfit.
Hustling & Bustling
Back when Meghan and Harry were doing long distance with each other, the soon-to-be duchess was constantly on the go and always in a different time zone. Because of that, Meghan was in more casual outfits to cater to all of the insane travel she was doing.
Out Boating
It's hard to wear heels on a boat, that's for sure. We're glad to see that Meghan traded in more dressed-up ensembles for a simple pair of white sneakers and some skinny jeans. Comfort can be chic too, duchess!
The Ultimate Sporty
Before she was a part of the royal family, Meghan walked down many red (in this case, blue) carpets in her day, and for this one, she got to go much more casual. We doubt we'll ever see the duchess in these neon green sneakers again.
Interesting Choice
Now, Meghan … you knew you were going to be playing some sports with kids, and thought high heels and business pants were the choice?? We don't fully understand it, but the duchess seemed to be perfectly comfortable in her usual sport outfit.
Facing the Elements
It's hard to look cute in the rain (as we have all probably experienced), but Meghan seemed to have no trouble with it at all. She was a true vision of sporty elegance, not to mention that handsome man she has on her arm too.

Of course we don't get to see Meghan's yoga outfits anymore, but before she had HRH status, she rocked sneaker, leggings, and casual tops like the best of them. We particularly love her sporty bundled-up look.
Leaving the Big Apple
Navigating Manhattan (especially with hundreds of paparazzi after you) can be extremely difficult, so it makes sense that Meghan would opt for some sporty sneakers and leggings when she headed back to England after her baby shower.
Blazers Can Be Sporty
Because Meghan never really goes fully sporty anymore, we'd say that her wearing a blazer with some casual jeans still counts as athletic-wear for the duchess. Even toward the end of her pregnancy, she was ready for anything!
Post-Yoga Glow
Yeah, we're pretty sure none of us would look this good coming back from a sweaty yoga session, nor do any of us look cute in our workout outfits. If only we could see what Meghan's royal yoga outfits look like now!
Supporting the Sports
So, Meghan may not have actually been the one playing the sports this day, but she did show up in an elegant, yet on-theme outfit. Again, who says a denim designer dress can't be sporty?? We think this duchess is out here changing all the rules we once believed to be true.

Boy, when Meghan and Harry show up in their best sporty outfits, watch out! There's no stopping these two, and there's definitely no stoping Meghan in that Invictus Games ensemble she had on.

We think Meghan's philosophy toward sporty events is taking her usual elegant and stylish clothes and spinning them to look more athletic. The duchess's outfit isn't a typical sporty ensemble, but there's something about the nautical theme that makes it seem more athleisure than royal fashion.
Easing Into It
Meghan's preroyal style was far more sporty than what she wears now, so her outfit during her first public outing with Prince Harry was the perfect transition ensemble. She had that sporty California-gal vibe while still being royal-appropriate.
So Beachy
We don't know what it is about Meghan and wearing dresses in casual circumstances, but hey, whatever works! Her classic trench and flats make it seem as if she's ready for whatever comes her way … and if that's a stroll on the beach, then so be it.
