20 of Queen Elizabeth’s Most Magnificent Hats

Truth be told, every woman in the royal family knows how to wear a hat. (Kate Middleton? Always nails it! Meghan Markle? A natural! Camilla? Born to wear hats!) But no one — and we mean no one — can rock a hat like quite like Queen Elizabeth. And might we be so bold as to say that the monarch knows it.

Sure, we love the smaller, daintier fascinators worn by the younger royals, but when it comes to wearing a tried-and-true hat — a bold hat! — we're fans of the queen all the way.

Let's be honest here: Hats aren't for everyone. So the fact that Queen Elizabeth is still able to look so regal in them at 93 is impressive to say the least. And she always manages to style her headwear perfectly with whatever it is she's wearing.

For the most part, the queen gravitates toward bright, happy colors and spring-y patterns — so finding a hat that works each look isn't an easy task. On the one hand, it could look "too much" if everything she's wearing is bright, big, and bold. But on the other, if done well, it can look perfect.

And that's what the queen always manages to pull off.

From decorative hats with fluffy embellishments to the tried-and-true classics, here are 20 of the queen's greatest hats.

Lady in Red

Obviously, the queen realized that she looks amazing in this color, so she decided to go full-on with it. We respect that.

Today, The Queen has released a message ahead of Commonwealth Day on Monday. "Commonwealth Day has a special significance this year as we mark the 70th anniversary of the London Declaration, when nations of the Commonwealth agreed to move forward together as free and equal members. The vision and sense of connection that inspired the signatories has stood the test of time, and the Commonwealth continues to grow, adapting to address contemporary needs. "Today, many millions of people around the world are drawn together because of the collective values shared by the Commonwealth. In April last year, I welcomed the leaders of our 53 nations to Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle for the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, and we all witnessed how the Commonwealth vision offers hope, and inspires us to find ways of protecting our planet, and our people. "We are able to look to the future with greater confidence and optimism as a result of the links that we share, and thanks to the networks of cooperation and mutual support to which we contribute, and on which we draw. With enduring commitment through times of great change, successive generations have demonstrated that whilst the goodwill for which the Commonwealth is renowned may be intangible, its impact is very real. "We experience this as people of all backgrounds continue to find new ways of expressing through action the value of belonging in a connected Commonwealth. I hope and trust that many more will commit to doing so this Commonwealth Day." PA Images #commonwealth

Man, everything about this look is hard to pull off — the hat, the color. But Queen Elizabeth nails it, as always.

Perfectly Coordinating

Queen Elizabeth's bouquet of traditional daffodils for St. David's Day work so well with her purple coat and matching hat. We're sure she planned it this way.
