There's really no denying the royal family has a certain reputation. The royals can be looked at as being a little too posh sometimes … and maybe even a little bit stiff. This may have been true in the past, but this is all changing thanks to the next generation of royals … especially Kate Middleton. Prince William and Prince Harry definitely paved the way for royals being known as actual people rather than just figureheads, and Will's wife, the Duchess of Cambridge has taken this and run with it. Kate is nothing if not warm, inviting, and completely down-to-earth. It could have been assumed that Kate would turn cold once she got used to royal life, but that couldn't be further from the truth.

If there's one thing we know about this duchess, she doesn't mind getting her hands dirty. Some royal women who sneer at the thought of helping out with the sheering of local sheep, but if we had to guess, we'd say that Kate volunteered for this.

Even royal women aren't above trying to help save the environment. Kate had no problem getting on her knees (in amazing boots, might we add) and sift through what was left on the beach.
Animal Lover
Is there anything more down-to-earth than bending down to let an adorable dog lick your face? Especially when that face belongs to a member of the royal family! We're sure Kate wishes that all of her royal engagements ended up like this.
Just One of the Kiddos
As if we needed any more reminding, Kate is especially good with the little kiddos. As a mom of three, she knows exactly what to say and how to act, and we're pretty sure that nothing pleases her more than being able to take time to speak with all of her young fans!

If there's one thing Kate's pretty darn good at, it's building morale. Whether it's wrangling three kids for a royal engagement, or giving encouragement to a marathon runner, this duchess can lift someone's spirits … all while remaining humble!

We would never expect a member of the royal family to get down on their knees to help out with some of the farm work, but then again, Kate truly is a one of a kind. She doesn't shy away from any sort of manual labor, that's for sure!

It had probably been a long time since Kate had participated in some of the typical elementary school games, but from the looks of things, she was loving every second of it! There's nothing quite like our down-to-earth Kate feeling like a kid again.

There's no doubt Kate has a definite presence when she has royal engagements with children. A real life princess coming to speak would intimidate any young person, but Kate is so warm and inviting that it hardly feels like she's royal at all!
Friend To All Wildlife
Seriously, we would not expect a royal woman to be willing to pet strange animals in a foreign country. But not this duchess! Kate jumps at the chance to greet any sort of wildlife, and she does so without any signs of royal snootiness.
Taking the Dog for a Walk
There's no royal dog watchers in the Cambridge family! Kate took their pup, Lupo, for an outing while Prince William was competing in his charity polo match, and although it's rumored that their dog was banned from coming back, everything seems to be going smoothly.
Too Many Cooks in the Kitchen
There's nothing more humble than Kate peering over the cooks shoulder to see if she can lend a hand. Or maybe she was just trying to get a sneak peak at her upcoming dinner! We have a good feeling that's what Prince William was doing.

One of the many things that we love about Kate Middleton is that she's as comfortable on a red carpet as she is sitting at a table of children. Stick her anywhere, and she's the same old Kate that we love!

Now tell us this — would most royal women bend down to pick up a dropped gift from an adoring fan? Probably not! But Kate is always going to make sure the things people bring her receive the same amount of attention.
One With Nature
If there was any doubt that Kate is one down-to-earth duchess, then there should be after she opened up her new community nature center. We have a good feeling that this won't be the last time the duchess makes an appearance with a group of children at her garden.
Cheering for Tennis
We love how animated Kate gets when she attends the Wimbledon tennis tournament! She's never afraid to cheer and make a little noise … even though it looks like Prince William wasn't really having it.
