30 Times Kate Middleton Stopped the Show in Blue

When she first joined the royal family in 2011, Kate Middleton solidified her place as one of the best-dressed duchesses in history. From her classic coatdresses to her impeccable taste in evening wear, the Duchess of Cambridge has worn it all. But one thing we've noticed is that this duchess tends to wear a whole lot of blue. It's not always royal blue (which would definitely make sense); often, Kate is sporting baby blue or powder blue. Some say that Kate's signature color has started to become dark green, but we say that it is and always has been blue. Don't believe us? Well, there's plenty of evidence to prove it.

Whether she's going for a casual look or she needs to be dressed for a red carpet, Kate has always seemed to find a way to make blue work for her needs. We love versatility as much as anybody, and it looks like Kate has certainly found something that always works for her. We have to remember that the Cambridges are dealing with unbelievably busy schedules and raising three kids to boot, so Kate probably doesn't have much time anymore to worry about her wardrobe. So, because of this, she probably likes to have something she can always rely on, and from the looks of things, she loves relying on one certain color.

From bold to subtle, Kate Middleton has found a blue ensemble for every occasion, and we have a good feeling she isn't going to stop any time soon. Here are 30 times Kate absolutely rocked the color blue.

Her Signature Style

There's no denying that during her eight years as a member of the royal family, Kate has made classic coatdresses her signature style. This powder blue number is definitely one of our favorites. She hasn't reworn this one too often, so we're hoping she'll break it out again soon.

A Closet Favorite

This periwinkle blue coatdress is another piece Kate loves to break out regularly. She wore it while she and Prince William were on tour with the kids, so it must be comfortable enough for the duchess to be on mom duty while wearing it!

Kate has certainly worn a lot of royal blue in her day. There's something super refreshing, however, about seeing the duchess with new bangs while wearing a classic Kate style. She definitely knows how to keep us on our toes.

Light Accessorizing

Normally, Kate doesn't bother with over-accessorizing, but we think the addition of a simple gold necklace looks absolutely perfect against her bright blue shift dress. See, Kate? Sometimes it pays to add a little extra something.

Doesn't Get More Kate Than This

If we had to pick one outfit to be the perfect and typical Kate Middleton look, it would probably be this one. Kate loves this light blue color, and top that off with a classic coatdress, and we've got the Kate Middleton style that we've all come to love.

I mean … has anyone ever gotten any closer to looking like Cinderella? Sure, Kate isn't blond, but this baby blue gown was positively regal, even if it did seem as if the duchess was overdressed for a tennis tournament.

A Perfect Match

Kate strikes again with the perfect accessory matching! How many times have we struggled to find shoes that complement our outfits? Definitely fewer times than Kate has, because she always seems to know to match colors without a problem in the world.

Depending on the event, Kate will sometimes go a little bit more serious with her outfits. For this royal engagement, the duchess went for a more military look, but her choice of blue rather than black made it a little more fresh.

A Favorite Evening Dress

This teal evening dress has seen several red carpet events throughout Kate's time as a duchess, and we have a feeling that it hasn't seen its last. Kate loves this gown too much to hide it in her closet for too long! Keep it coming, Kate.

A Duchess in Capes

Not all heroes wear capes, but this duchess certainly does! Kate has a few outfits that are in this powder blue color, but she really turned heads when she stepped out in this caped coatdress. This is just one more piece of evidence that Kate has been seriously stepping up her fashion game.

Another Traditional Outfit

Kate has definitely been wearing more flowy dresses in 2019, and we have to say that we love the duchess channeling her inner Greek goddess. This two-toned blue and green gown was a crowd-pleaser — mainly because it was something new!

Something Fresh

Even though Kate does love digging in the back of her closet for something to rewear, she also knows that she deserves to shop for something new every once in a while. Kate went for new and fresh for the 2019 Royal Ascot race.

Kate gave birth to a little baby boy, so of course she just had to step out in an adorable baby blue dress. We're still amazed that she was able to look this amazing right after giving birth, but well, that's Kate for us.

An Early Look

We have to give Kate credit for knowing exactly how to dress early on in her royal career. The duchess broke out this blue dress right at the start of her royal career, and no surprise to anyone, it wasn't the last time she wore it.

Bringing Back Ombre

Who would have thought that Kate Middleton would make the ombre style cool again? We suppose all it takes is a gorgeous duchess and an elegant evening wear outfit (with matching pants, of course) to revive the trend.

Pretty in Polka Dots

Not everyone can pull off dots, but unsurprisingly, Kate's doing this flawlessly. The contrast of the blue and white looks so good on her, and it's such a classic look. Can she please let us borrow this dress for our next daytime event?

Going Turquoise

Kate wore this dress to the BBC for an anti-cyber bullying event, but she could have been going somewhere way fancier. That square neckline is gorgeous on Kate, and so is the pleated skirt. And as always, she's giving us major hair envy.

Trooping the (Blue) Colour

Talk about a family who looks good in monochromatic outfits! Kate's powder blue dress is so pretty, and she accessorized it perfectly with her hat, clutch, and earrings. Plus, we've gotta admit we love how happy she looks here.

Keeping It Casual

It's not often that we get to see Kate Middleton in more casual, candid moments like this one, but she looks so sweet, hanging out with George and Charlotte. Her pretty blue and white striped sundress is still a lot dressier than what a lot of moms would wear during a day out with their kiddos, but this is Kate we're talking about.

Even her casual looks take it up a notch!

Bumpin' In Blue

Kate wore this blue ensemble while she was pregnant with Louis, and once again, her maternity style is on point! This jacket and dress combo is perfect for a day of making royal appearances. And yes, those are Princess Diana's earrings she's wearing.

So sweet!

Rainy Day Style

How does Kate look this cute when she's stuck out in the rain?! Her umbrella might be red, but her outfit is blue — and super adorable, even on a gloomy day. Kate's always wearing the most amazing coats, including this one.

So pretty!

The Perfect Blazer

Although Kate's mostly known for her dresses, this lady can pull off business casual like no other. This blue blazer added such a pretty pop of color to her outfit — and those gold buttons! She wore this to a graduation, and TBH, it's hard to imagine a better outfit.

A Matching Set

This photo is from when Kate visited Ronald McDonald house in London. This blue tweed suit is a bit of a different look than these other blue outfits she's worn in the past, but who doesn't love switching it up? Her clutch really pulls it all together, too.

Keeping It Simple

This photo was taken when Kate attended the launch of the National Emergencies Trust in November 2019. At the time, she made headlines for accessorizing with Diana's earrings, which have truly become a staple in her wardrobe. This shade of blue matches Diana's sapphires perfectly.

Visiting Pakistan

Kate's fashion while touring Pakistan definitely turned a lot of heads, and it's easy to see why. She looked gorgeous in this blue kurta. It's awesome to see the way that she honored the culture and traditions of the country she was visiting while still putting her own stylish twist on the look.
