There's no doubt about it: When it comes to the Duggar sisters, Joy-Anna Duggar is definitely one of our favorites. From the time we watched her as a little kid on 19 Kids & Counting to today, , we've loved her adventurous spirit and spunky personality. In a family that is so dedicated to more traditional gender roles, Joy's never paid much mind to them — instead, she played outside barefoot with the boys when she wanted to, and hung out inside with the girls when she wanted to. This lady has always marched to the beat of her own drum, and always with a smile on her face.
Since we first met her in her younger years, things have changed so much. Now, she's wife to Austin Forsyth and a mom to her children, Gideon and Evelyn, and we're happy to see that she continues to do the things that she loves, like spending time outdoors, hanging out with her sisters, and being an actual ray of sunshine to everyone she meets.
Joy's been through some tough stuff in her life, but she always rises above and impresses us so much with her strength and persistence. Everything she tackles, she seems to be great at, and we've loved following along with her adventures all these years. There's never a dull moment for Joy, but that seems to be just the way she likes things.
Here are all the reasons Joy is one of our favorite members of the Duggar family. We love all of her sisters, and they're all so different with their own personalities. But lately, it's totally been Joy's time to shine, and we hope things only keep getting better for her from here.
Her Sweet Relationship With Austin
From the beginning, Joy and Austin have been one of our favorite couples in the family. They started out as friends, and that set such an awesome foundation for their marriage. It seems like they always have so much fun together.
She's the Best Mom
Given that Joy grew up surrounded by younger brothers and sisters, it's no surprise that she's good with kids. But it's so wonderful to see what a great mom she is to both of her kids, Gideon and Evelyn. All three of them have such a sweet bond.
She Works With Austin on Home Renovations
From the time they were courting, Joy's been all about helping Austin flip houses. It's a lot of work — super hard work! — but Joy's always down for a challenge. These two definitely need their own HGTV show (with Jana around for interior design, of course).
She Goes Camping & Hunting With the Guys
Joy recently went on a long camping and hunting trip with Austin and her brothers, and it seems like she had a great time. Even when she was younger, she loved the more rough and tumble stuff her brothers were into. And now, she keeps pursuing those passions.
She's Sharing Her Workout Journey
Joy's been all about sharing how she stays in shape with her Instagram followers lately. We love that she's been so open and honest about the kind of effort it takes, especially with a little one at home. We know she'll reach her goals!

Just in case there was ever any doubt, Joy and Austin are the cutest couple ever. Their Instagram pics are all the proof we need to be sure of that! They always look so in love — it's easy to tell just by the way they look at each other, and we have a feeling that'll never change.
Her Friendship With Her Sisters-In-Law
Joy has been so welcoming of everyone to her family. Let's not forget, she did approve of Joe proposing to Kendra at her wedding, which a lot of people would have been pissed at. But Joy's all about selflessly offering love and support to the ladies who have married her brothers.
The Bond She Has With Her Younger Sisters
Even though Joy moved out of her parents' home, she still makes an effort to hang out with her little sisters. After all, thanks to the buddy system, the Duggar siblings get very close when they're younger. Just like Jill was Joy's buddy and still checks up on her, Joy does the same for hers.
Her Adorable Renovated Camper
We will never get over how awesome Joy and Austin's camper was! And after seeing this tour, it's clear that it had touches of Joy's style all over it. RV life may not be ideal for a lot of people, but it seemed perfect for these two. And if we had a camper that looked this cute, we'd live in it, too! We wonder if they ever miss this time in their lives?
Her Relationship With Jana
Although Jana's the last older sister standing who isn't married, that doesn't mean she doesn't hang with her sisters who are. Lately, it seems like Joy and Jana have been spending a lot of time together, which is so sweet to see. It's great that they're able to be even better friends now that they're both adults.
Her Adventurous Spirit
Joy's definitely never been one to shy away from an adventure! Even when she was a kid, she was the first one to get her hands dirty, and now that she's an adult, that hasn't changed. She, Evelyn, and Gideon must have so much fun together!
Her Love of the Outdoors
Joy's always been a huge fan of the outdoors, so it's awesome that she's continued to foster that love as she's gotten older. While most of her sisters would probably prefer to stay inside, that definitely doesn't apply to Joy. She was actually super cut out for camper living just based on her personality, now that we think about it.
She's Incredibly Strong
We can't imagine what it must have been like for Joy and Austin to experience the stillbirth of their daughter, Annabell, at 20 weeks. It had to be so heartbreaking, but Joy has continued being the best mom and wife she can be. Her strength is so inspiring.
Her Friendship With Carlin
Despite the distance between them, nothing has come between her and her friendship with Carlin Bates. Over the years, the girls have stayed best friends, and have been there for each other's big life moments. It's so sweet to see their photos every time they're able to spend time together.
She Has So Many Skills
Seriously, is there anything Joy isn't good at? Cutting hair, renovating campers and houses, being the best mom ever to both Gideon and Evelyn — as far as we can tell, there's nothing this lady can't do. She's so much like her big sister Jana in this way!
She's Willing To Try Just About Anything
Joy might be the only Duggar sister we've seen driving around heavy machinery like this. While some may shy away from these kinds of activities, Joy jumps right in. We know she had to have gotten that truck out of the mud!
She Has the Cutest Little Family
We will never get over how adorable Joy, Gideon, Evelyn, and Austin are together. And if they expand their family in the future? Well, they'll be even more adorable, but even if they don't end up having more kids, Joy's got herself a pretty precious crew surrounding her, especially when all four of them take photos.
She's Been a Dedicated Mom From The Beginning
Even though Joy was so young when Gideon was born, it didn't seem to phase her one bit. She had a rough delivery, but once that little guy was in the world, she worked hard at being the best mom ever, and he (along with Evelyn) is so lucky to have her!
Her Wedding Dress Was Gorgeous
Although fashion and style have never been anything Joy's admitted being into, her wedding dress couldn't have been more perfect. It looked gorgeous on Joy, while still hitting the modesty requirements that are so important to her family. So dreamy!
Her Honeymoon Looked Like So Much Fun
Switzerland?! We're so jealous! It seems like Joy and Austin had the best time ever exploring Europe, and their photos were so beautiful they looked fake. It's great that they had that time to themselves, because it wasn't long until Gideon came around!
She Doesn't Mind When Things Get Messy
Joy doesn't shy away from showing the imperfect parts of her day — most of which are just the reality of living life with a toddler. With mischievous Gideon around, things are bound to get a little messy … and Joy certainly makes fellow toddler moms feel less alone with her Instagram posts.
Her Home Decor
When Austin and Joy decided they were ready to ditch the camper, they bought a home of their own and fixed it up themselves to be the house of their dreams. Not only was their flip beautifully done, but they also decorated it to be such a cute house, too. Such a good eye for design!
Her Love For Evelyn
Joy has always been an awesome boy mom, but we never had any doubt that she'd be a great mom to a baby girl, too — and so far, she totally has. Even when Evelyn was a newborn (those months are so tough) she appreciated those exhausting moments, soaking it all in.
She Does Her Own Thing
No matter what anyone else thinks, Joy does her thing — whether that means stepping away from social media when she needs a break or even deciding to give (modest) shorts a try when her family usually expects their daughters to wear dresses. She has a mind of her own, and we love to see her making her own decisions.
