What to Know
Adam Sandler is so well known for his super casual style that hoodies, t-shirts, and basketball shorts have practically become his uniform, regardless of what the occasion happens to be. So it’s not really that surprising to see him walking a red carpet without bothering to dress up, but for some reason, this time is different. Adam showed up to his wife Jackie Sandler‘s movie premiere in sweats, and some people really aren’t happy about it.
Adam was at Jackie’s side on the red carpet.

Adam joined Jackie at the premiere of her new Netflix movie, Office Romance, on May 26. While Jackie wore a glittery black dress, tights, and heels, Adam looked like he was ready for a night watching TV on the couch in his bright orange New York Knicks hoodie, blue sweats, and sneakers. He might not have been very fashion forward in this moment, but he did look pretty comfy.
For Adam — who, of course, is the man behind the “Sandlercore” fashion movement — this is a typical ensemble. It’s rare to see him in a suit at any event, including ones that may be more formal than others (like movie premieres). It’s just who he is, and it’s what his fans love about him. But was this one of those moments where he should have sucked it up and dressed up to support his wife?
Some people really appreciate the authenticity, but others… not so much.
In response to a photo that TMZ posted from the premiere on X, so many people are cheering Adam on for remaining his most authentic self, no matter what the situation might be.
“Just because you have money doesn’t mean you have to dress like the money you have. He’s a humble dude too i can tell,” one fan wrote.
Others thought that a movie premiere like this one wasn’t the time or place for Adam’s particular brand of authenticity.
“He had no respect for the movie or for the people who woke up early and took time to look presentable for the premiere,” one person wrote. “Maturing is realizing that this outfit is lazy & childish.”
Some people even called him a “bum,” with one adding, “I understand that that’s just how he dresses and he doesn’t gaf about vanity but to dress like this for your wife’s BIG premiere says all I need to know about him.”
Sandlercore is here to stay.

If Adam isn’t dressing up for his wife on her big night, what other reason could he ever have for dressing up for anything else?
After all, his style has kind of become a trend… something that baffles Adam a bit, as he said during an appearance on the Drew Barrymore Show earlier this year.
“Disgusting,” he said in response to the trend. “There’s no reason for that.”
