Despite how well people think they know Alex Cooper from listening to Call Her Daddy, the latest rumors about her personal life are just that — rumors. Recently, fans have been convinced that Alex’s marriage to Matt Kaplan is circling the drain, but on this week’s episode of her podcast, she laid it all out there. One “miserable” moment between the two of them on the red carpet actually wasn’t what it looked like at all.
Alex recently announced that she and Matt are expecting their first child.
On May 17, Alex shared that she’s pregnant in an Instagram post showing off her baby bump for the first time.
Of course, her pregnancy is a secret she’s been keeping a while, and a time when she thought that secret would be completely blown before she was ready to announce her news publicly made it seem like she and Matt were really unhappy to be together.
A moment they shared on the red carpet wasn’t as “miserable” as it looked.

Alex and Matt were at a red carpet event in May before she shared the big news, and while she was getting dressed, the outfit she chose to hide her bump was malfunctioning because it didn’t fit her properly anymore and the buttons kept popping off.
“I’m a mess. And [Matt’s] so supportive. He’s, like, trying to help me rejigger the thing,” she explained on the podcast. “I’ve got my Spanx literally hiked up to my nipples. We’re about to be late. I am sucking in for dear life. I’m trying to make this work as we walk out the door.”
She considered it a “win” that people ended up speculating about her marriage, rather than the status of her uterus.
“To see people overanalyzing Matt and I as we are earnestly trying to hide this pregnancy, I was so relieved that they were talking about our dynamic, our supposed marital issues, and no one was talking about a potential bump,” she said. “It was a win for the Cooper-Kaplans that day. Matt and I went to bed holding hands and we were like, ‘We survived another day.’”
Alex called these types of rumors “insane.”
This time, she didn’t mind the false rumors about her relationship while she was trying to hide a different secret, but in general, she’s not a big fan of this kind of thing.
“You read those things, and Matt and I are like, ‘No one in our life, our closest friends, our family, is wondering those things’. But then it is crazy to see the internet be like, ‘Oh my God, they’re on the rocks.’ And we’re like, ‘Wait, wait. We are? What’s happening?’” she said. “But Matt and I are good. No one needs to worry. Matt and I are great.”
We never really know what’s going on with people or their relationships behind closed doors… and it’s kind of pointless to even try to figure it out. If something’s truly wrong, it all comes out eventually.
