Alix Earle Is Getting Dragged for What She Wore to Wimbledon

Wimbledon is the biggest tennis tournament of the year, but it’s also kind of a fashion show. Not only are fans excited to see what their favorites are wearing on the court, but it’s also fun to see the outfits that celebrities show up wearing in the stands (especially the royal family). So when Alix Earle showed up in an outfit that people deemed a bit over-the-top for the occasion, the criticism about her look quickly went viral.

The controversy started when Alix showed off her outfit in a TikTok video.

Alix shared a “get ready with me” video to show her prepping to head out for Wimbledon earlier this week, complete with what she called “a really big, voluminous blowout.”

In general, the rules about what you can and cannot do (and wear) at Wimbledon tend to be pretty strict, and people don’t really tend to go too far outside the box when it comes to fashion. But Alix chose a lacy miniskirt and corset top that was very different than the more casual but chic dress her sister, Ashtin, wore to the event.

Still, Alix seemed really happy with her ensemble, writing in the caption, “I feel like a princess.”

Commenters did not hold back when it came to their true thoughts on her outfit.

It wasn’t that Alix didn’t look good — she looked gorgeous in her outfit, and absolutely like a princess. The problem? “Princess” isn’t really the Wimbledon vibe, and people were very quick to point that out to her in the comments.

“Your stylist did you dirty. Not Wimbledon at all,” one commenter wrote.

Another said, “You look great but this outfit is just not Wimbledon. Wimbledon is simple and classy.”

Some people said that her look would have been more appropriate for an event like the Kentucky Derby or even going to “high tea.”

One of the most popular criticisms in the comments? “It’s not Bridgerton, it’s Wimbledon,” which pulled in over 15,000 likes.

There is some good news for Alix, though. No matter how many people didn’t like this outfit, many did really, really love her hair like this.

Alix has already responded to the backlash.

Alix is very aware of the backlash she’s getting on her outfit, but fortunately, it looks like she’s taking it all in stride. Not only did she show off that ensemble all over social media, but she also made one of the selfies she took that day her profile picture on Instagram, which feels like a major power move after all that negativity.

When sharing photos from her outing at Wimbledon, she even referenced one of the critical comments she got, captioning the post, “Off to Bridgerton… I mean Wimbledon.”

Good for Alix for having a good sense of humor. Haters are gonna hate!
