Amazon’s Upcoming Docuseries on the Duggars Will Expose Shocking Details About the Family

There has been talk about a Duggar documentary series coming for a while, and now, we finally have more details. Apparently, Amazon's docuseries promises to expose some pretty "shocking" details about the family's life behind the scenes, including the role that the Institute in Basic Life Principles plays in their lives.

The series was originally meant to follow fundamentalist families in general.

And of course, because the Duggars are a big part of that world, we expected that there would be a heavy emphasis on their family in particular.

But apparently, the docuseries — which comes from the same people who brought us Lularich — has now pivoted to focus only on the Duggars.

The series is called 'Shiny Happy People: Duggar Family Secrets.'

The docuseries' logline was released in December, as The Ashley's Reality Roundup has reported.

It reads: "On the heels of Josh Duggar’s explosive criminal trial, the untitled project will expose shocking connections between some of reality television’s most famous large families and The Institute in Basic Life Principles, a controversial fundamentalist organization and homeschooling empire. In addition, prominent commentators, writers, and social media voices will explore the broader zeitgeist of reality television, social media, faith, fundamentalism, patriarchy, and power."

Members of the press will be shown a preview this week.

According to what a reporter from Variety told Duggar critics on Reddit, media has been invited to preview the series on Thursday.

That means that in just a few days, we should be getting more details about what to expect in the footage.

There's a lot of ground to cover.

Those of us who have been following the family closely since Counting On came to an end after Josh's arrest already know that things are not at all the way they seem in Michelle and Jim Bob's family.

But for those who were casual viewers of the show, there's a good chance that this docuseries is going to be seen as pretty explosive. Aside from Josh's transgressions, the family has always done their best to keep a squeaky clean image.

The docuseries will debut in June.

We don't have an exact premiere date just yet, but because the series is set to air on Amazon Prime next month, it seems like that update will be coming soon — and maybe even a trailer?

We need to hear more ASAP!
