As three of the original stars of Teen Mom, Maci Bookout, Amber Portwood, and Catelynn Baltierra have been close for more than 15 years, seeing each other through relationships, marriages, and the births of more babies than the ones they originally welcomed on 16 & Pregnant. But now, it sounds like their friendship is officially over – at least where Amber’s concerned. After the latest of her recent series of TikTok live rants, there’s no doubt about that.
The Ashley’s Reality Roundup reported that on Monday, Amber used a certain profane gesture to describe how she feels about her former besties. Apparently, Amber started out by voicing her disappointment that other Teen Mom stars have criticized the way she treats her daughter Leah, which led to a fan pointing out that Maci and Catelynn have always supported her.
Amber disagreed, though. “Maci and Cate have been good to me? Hold up real quick,” she said before flipping off the camera.
During the same live stream, Amber claimed that she would “get [Teen Mom] canceled” if MTV didn’t cancel it first, and seemed to hint that she knows something about the future of the show that fans don’t. But according to what a source told The Ashley, that’s not the case at all. In fact, those who work on the show have “heard absolutely nothing” to suggest MTV is pulling the plug on the long-running series.
That doesn’t mean that Teen Mom won’t be over for Amber, though … especially not after her recent rants.
“Also, Amber thinking that she would have any power to cancel the show is ridiculous,” the insider said. “To my knowledge she has not been officially let go, though, but she’s basically asking to be fired so it’s doubtful she will continue on.”
The source went on to add that Amber wasn’t invited to the Teen Mom reunion taped in January, even though her ex Gary Shirley and his wife, Kristina, were, and reportedly, it’s because Leah didn’t want her there.
“She wouldn’t have been able to be open if Amber had been there,” the source said. “Although it doesn’t always seem like it, [production] will always protect or give priority to the kids’ needs over the other cast members’.”
Teen Mom is currently on hiatus, so it’s impossible to know exactly what the future holds, but it does seem like Amber isn’t going to take a break from these rants anytime soon either way.
