In many ways, Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle have been pitted against each other. Even though Meghan is no longer a working royal, she is often compared to Princess Catherine to this day. Of course, Meghan and Prince Harry’s decision to step back from royal duties and move to the United States stirred up a lot of drama. Many critics of Meghan and Harry have praised Kate and Prince William. A recent poll, however, suggests that William and Kate are not as popular among Americans as you might think.
Though many Americans seem to really appreciate Kate, she is not the most popular member of the royal family.

According to a YouGov poll about the British royal family, Americans are pretty divided when it comes to their opinions on Kate. The poll revealed that she is more popular than Meghan – but not that much more popular. According to the poll, 52% of Americans have favorable opinions of Kate. Meanwhile, 46% have favorable views of Meghan.
Interestingly, Kate and Meghan’s husbands are both more popular than they are. The poll showed 58% of Americans have a favorable opinion of William, making him the third most popular member of the royal family in the United States. (President Donald Trump has also spoken highly of Prince.) Harry scored a 53% favorability rating, meaning he’s slightly more popular than Kate, according to the poll.
The late Princess Diana is the most popular member of the royal family.

People in this country seem to really like and respect the late Princess Diana, who died in 1997. The poll revealed that 76% of Americans have a favorable opinion of her. She is significantly more popular than her ex-husband, King Charles: 34% of Americans have a “very or somewhat unfavorable” opinion of Charles, and only 42% have a favorable opinion.
The late Queen Elizabeth is also well-liked.
Queen Elizabeth, who died in 2022, is the second most popular member of the royal family, according to YouGov. In contrast, Queen Camilla received a low favorability rating, placing her near the very bottom of the list. With just 30% of Americans saying they have a favorable opinion of Camilla, she only ranked above Prince Andrew – but barely.
In spite of his connections to Jeffrey Epstein, 28% of Americans still had a favorable opinion of Andrew. He is significantly less popular among British people. According to YouGov, only 5% of people in the United Kingdom have a positive opinion of him.
The YouGov poll came out just before Andrew caused even more drama for the royal family because of his connections to an alleged Chinese spy.
