Things appear better than ever for disgraced news anchors T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach. The couple lost their plum daytime hosting gigs for ABC's GMA3 after news of their workplace affair broke, but that doesn't seem to be dampening their blossoming love affair.
T.J. reportedly got Amy a new piece of bling for her 50th birthday.
It doesn't look like T.J. is worried about money after losing his job at ABC β or upset about the fact that Amy got a significantly larger severance package after the network decided to cut ties with the two stars β because he was spotted spending a pretty penny on some jewelry for his girlfriend. Photographers captured him visiting both Tiffany's and David Yurman in New York City to splurge on Amy.
The Daily Mail claims T.J. purchased a ring that's part of a bridal package.
According to the news outlet, T.J. was all smiles while he picked out a David Yurman Unity Cable ring for $650 and a gold Tiffany & Co. chain that set him back an estimated $350.
The chain and ring were packaged up nicely in one of Tiffany's signature robin's egg blue boxes and given to Amy as part of her birthday celebration.
Amy was later spotted wearing the 'promise ring' while she was out and about.
The gift was obviously well received, because photos show Amy shopping in Manhattan on Tuesday wearing the new jewelry. Of course, there was one accessory that was conspicuously absent during Amy's afternoon outing, and that was her wedding ring. She likely left that at home as she waits for her divorce from actor Andrew Shue to be finalized.
A source close to the couple said their career troubles are just a minor speed bump in their love story.
Despite losing very cushy (and lucrative) TV jobs, Amy and T.J. seem to be doing better than ever in their relationship.
"It's kind of proof of how committed they are to each other that they've weathered this s-storm after their secret love affair was exposed, they were suspended from GMA3, and then waited for agonizing weeks as ABC kept them in limbo about their future," the insider noted.
Their friendship seems to be the thing helping them weather this rough patch.
"But don't forget that T.J. and Amy were friends long before they were lovers," the insider continued. "Their relationship began with an awfully strong bond that β to this point β has only become, well, more."
It sounds like the two are going to have to lean on each other more than ever in the coming months as they both try and figure out the next steps for their careers and their relationship.
